       Founders       News
                       Rabobank, who sponsored Coachella Valley Women's
                      Business Center's first Networking Breakfast
                      and Panel Discussion on May 1, 2009, donated
                      $10,000.00 to the Center on August 6, 2009. The
                      Center is grateful for this generous donation, which
                      allows the Center to continue to reach out to
                      underserved women and entrepreneurs to assist them
                      in attaining their
                      dreams of owning a
                      business.

                      Coachella Valley Women's Business Center is now
                      accepting companies for a new program. The JOLI
                      Interim Project is a collaborative program between
                      Community Action Partnership of Riverside County

                                        Coachella Valley Women's Business Center is now
          Riverside County Workforce   accepting companies for a new program. The JOLI
      Development                       Interim Project is a collaborative program between

Kim Santana                    On Thursday July 9, 2009 Assemblyman V. Manuel
                               Pérez
                               awarded the Coachella Valley Women's Business
                               Center with a Certificate of Recognition. The Center,
                               represented by Director Olga S. Betancourt, was one
                               of four given the distinction of "Job Generator of the
                               Year" from the
                               California
                               Association for
                               Microenterprise
                               Opportunity(CAMEO)
                               .

                               business owners
                               throughout the
                               region. It's my pleasure to be able to to honor her
                               years of service to microenterprise development and

                               Brian Nestande during a ribbon cutting ceremony with
                               the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce.

                               Milestones
                                       Danielle Pinkerton, owner of PINK Tanning
                                 & Body Spa opened her doors to the public on
                                 August 1, 2009. PINK is that very special treat you
                                 have been promising yourself - from specialized
      forms of massage, to customized facials, waxing
      and fantasy tans. PINK is located inside of Gold's
      Gym in Palm Desert. Congratulations, Danielle, on
      your new endeavor.

            Sallie Weaver, owner of New Attitude
      Designs was awarded a grant from the State
      Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. New
      Attitude Designs manufactures and sells clothing
      for people with limited mobility. NAD's goal is to
      provide attractive, fashionable, and affordable
      clothing. These designs will provide greater ease in
      dressing and allow for more independent living.
            Jim and Paula Kaszyk of Ageless Secret have
      increased their profit and doubled their sales since
      January, 2009.
            Corina Quitiquit obtained her Business
      License and DBA, and officially launched her
      magazine, Vida Latina in July 2009.
            Susie Dauto, of Storyland Preschool and El
      Jardin Daycare, has incorporated her business, and
      has her website up and running.
            Sharon Harris, of Quakesafe Kits, has
      increased her sales in the month of August, by
      scheduling five new events - accomplishing this
      while her husband and business partner has
      been recovering from surgery. Sharon has also
      hired two new part time employees.

    Upcoming Special Events
        The debut month of our series, "Pack Your Lunch
    and Join Us" was a huge success, proving that our
    clients are open to learning while they lunch.
    September "Pack Your Lunch and Join Us" series will
    spotlight different aspects of management. On
    September 9, Sonja Martin, Ed.D., will discuss Time
    Management. September 16 will bring Michael C.
    Wales II of Paychex discussing various areas of Payroll
    Management. On September 23, Lydia Rodriguez
    Strickland of LFR and Associates will speak on Human
    Resources, and finally, on September 30, Jodi Pannell
    of Office Team will speak on Permanent vs.
    Temporary Employees.

                       Our Women's Business Partnership
                       Networking Event scheduled for
                       Saturday, September 26, 2009 from
                       11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. will feature
                       Margaret Skarin and David A. Parker
                       of The Body Deli, who will share the
    innovations they have found to keep their business
    fresh and profitable for eight years. The event will
    take place at 73-710 Fred Waring Drive, Suite115, in
    Palm Desert. Remember to bring lots of business
    cards - this is a networking event!

      We will hold another Panel Networking Breakfast at
    Desert Willow Golf Resort in either late October or
