Lesson 15-17 Working as a team to produce a shield for a Knight P1

* What different roles within * Show students the first 10 mins of a Knights Tale - ask them to look out * Work better in teams * Need resources such as plenty if
a team there are for any symbols they can see and jot them down (they will need to keep paper, colours (paint??), scissors

  achieve a shared goal
                               * Introduce the task - you are going to be given the task of designing a
new shield for a Knight. You will be working in teams - so the focus is
working with other people. Discuss the different roles that people can
have in a team (you could refer to the film) e.g. writers, researchers,
makers, leaders, etc… The three roles we are thinking about today are
researchers (readers), creators (making things), organizers (keeping
                                 everyone on task)

                                * Pupils have 3 lessons (will need to see how goes) to research (possibly
using internet or the sheets) how shields are made and to make an actual
shield using coloured paper/card. They will also have to provide a brief
written piece to describe and explain how they have done and why they
have used the colours/images they did.

                                * Pupils use the plenary sheets to guide their learning in the next lesson

* Why castles were built * Understand who built castles pentagon for example

to tell their future friends/form tutor about?

                                  * Use the Time capsule sheet

                                  * Recap - who can tell me what a TC is? What is there purpose? What sort
of items can you put in one? You could ask for the wackiest item they
                                    have found on the net.

                                  * Individuals go through their list and evaluate the suitability of items to

                                    included

                                  * They could guess things about the future e.g. who would be prime
minister? Who would be King or Queen? What would be number 1? Who
would be in the latest film at the cinema? What will our school look like?
