Rules for Use of the Isla Vista Skate Program
The behavior of temporary Skate Program users will determine whether or not
a permanent skatepark will be built in Isla Vista.
To ensure safe participation for all users, these rules must be followed.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
• The Isla Vista Skate Program is a temporary recreation program which operates during specified days and
times which are posted on The District website: www.ivparks.org. The Isla Vista Skate Program is for
human powered skateboards only; in-line skates, bicycles or scooters are not allowed at any time.
• Skateboarding is a hazardous activity. All Skate Program participants must have a signed waiver/release
form and a signed rule sheet on file with The Isla Vista Recreation and Park District. (A parent or guardian
must sign the waiver/release form, rules and a medical treatment authorization form for anyone under the
age of 18.) SKATE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
• Skaters must check in and out with the attendant every time they come or go.
• The Skate Program is a drop-in recreation program. Children have the right to come and go from the
program at will and staff will not prevent children from leaving the program.
• The Skate Program will be closed if the structures or ground are wet.
• Food, beverages, drugs or tobacco products are not permitted at the Skate Program.
• Spectators or pets are not permitted inside the area used by the Skate Program.
• The District reserves the right to remove program participants who violate these rules.
• Special events or contests are not allowed at the Skate Program unless authorized by The District.
• Commercially made helmets, kneepads and elbow pads in good condition are required. Helmets must fit
properly and must be fastened securely. Failure to wear specified safety equipment may result in removal
from the Skate Program and loss of Skate Program privileges.
• Skate Program participants must be 8 years of age or older.
• All participants must have a Day Use Pass or a current Skate Program Quarterly Pass.
• Unauthorized pieces of equipment, obstacles, or apparatus may not be brought inside the program area.
• Respect other Skate Program participants, the property of others, the Skate Program structures, equipment
and the Skate Program grounds. The use of profanity (including profanity on clothing) is not permitted.
Disrespectful, disruptive or antagonistic behavior may result in removal from the Skate Program and loss of
Skate Program privileges.
• Wear shirts, pants and shoes at all times.
• Use the Skate Program equipment safely at all times. Skate with the flow of traffic and avoid collision with
others. If the attendant blows the whistle, skaters must stop and listen to what he/she says.
• Skating on the curbs, sidewalks, or parking lot at Estero Park is not permitted.
• Sitting or standing along the tops of the rails is not permitted.
• Wearing jewelry increases the risk of injury. Participants wear jewelry at their own risk.
I have read these rules and agree to follow them. If participant is a minor: I have read and discussed these
