PRINCIPAL CALL COMMITTEE UPDATE – The Call Committee for the position of school
principal has begun their work. The Committee includes Dave Bunte, chair, Jerry Watkins,
Andrea Brauer, Carol Stewart, Loren Lumpe, Marc Bahr, Rex Gould and Christine Meyr. (Pastor
Rueckert and Dave Bunte are non-voting members.) The Committee would like to solicit names of
individuals that you believe should be considered in the pool of candidates. Please submit your
name(s) in writing as soon as possible using the form provided at the Welcome Center desk. If
you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact any of the members of the committee
or Pastor Rueckert.

“EDUCATION GRANT” – Attention Widows and Single Mothers – The Immanuel
Endowment Fund has been given funds to help widows, single mothers and their
dependent children with obtaining a quality education to help them develop skills to
support their family. If you feel that you will qualify for this program, please contact
Pastor Rueckert. Please submit your application by February 13, 2010.

PLEASE CONSIDER ATTENDING ONE OR BOTH OF THESE EVENTS:
             Cross-
   1) A free Cross-Cultural Witnessing Workshop, put on by Christian Friends of New Americans on
Saturday morning, January 23rd, from 9:30-12:00 at the Concordia Historical Institute on
      Concordia Seminary.
   2) The second annual “Reaching Out Together” evangelism conference which will take place on
Saturday, February 13, 2010. The registration deadline for “Reaching Out Together” is February
5, 2010. For more information contact Concordia Seminary Continuing Education at 314-505-
      7486 or email ce@csl.edu.

WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE? Volunteers are needed to help new Americans learn the
English language. No teaching expertise is necessary, just an ability to communicate in English
and a desire to help others who need to learn English as they begin their new lives in our country.
Along the way, you certainly will also have opportunity to share the love of our Lord, Jesus
Christ, with people who do not know Him. For more information regarding the program of
Christian Friends of New Americans, call Pastor Gary Dehnke at 636-4998-0559 or Carol Buckman
at 314-517-8513.

LUTHERAN WITNESS RENEWAL – If you are currently receiving the Lutheran Witness, the
March 2010 issue will complete your subscription. If you wish to continue receiving the Witness,
please use the envelope in your offering box, enclose $15.00 to cover the subscription, and return it
to the church office no later than January 24, 2010. If you are not receiving the Lutheran Witness
and wish to do so, please return $15.00 in your envelope and mark “New Subscriber”.

own purchases at your favorite stores. The funds from this ongoing fundraiser will go toward
making purchases of large non-budget items for Immanuel’s school. There is a wide list of stores
and services that are in stock or can be ordered. Stop by the Scrip table for more information
and give it a try!

FALL/WINTER FOOD PANTRY REQUESTS: We would appreciate your gifts
of the following items to keep the Food Pantry stocked: canned meats,
fruit and vegetables, pasta, boxed pasta dinners, soup, peanut butter and
coffee. Toiletries of all kinds are always in demand, especially soap,
shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, and toilet paper and tissues. Your
ongoing support is so appreciated. ----THANK YOU!
THANK YOU for all the visits, cards, and well wishes given to me
during my stay at the nursing home this past year. May our Lord bless
                                    you all! Mildred Malke

A SPECIAL THANKS to Pastor Rueckert and Pastor Karg for providing
God’s Word and Holy Communion during their home visits. I also want
to thank the ILC Adult Choir, Tuesday and Sunday Bible class, members
of the Care Committee and members of Immanuel for their loving
support, continual prayers, beautiful cards, delicious meals and words of
encouragement. A special appreciation to Eve and those anonymous
Immanuel angels who deliver the loveliest flowers and finest baked
goods without anyone being aware of their presence. When I was ill,
my Immanuel family, including Angus, lifted me up. God is so good.
                                                             Karen Peters
