                          JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:                Education Officer
JOB PURPOSE               To represent all students on educational issues.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.   Represent students on educational issues in the University, locally and
     nationally, reporting regularly to Student Executive Committee and
     Education Committee.

2.     The Education Officer has particular responsibility for representing
       postgraduates and coordinating postgraduate activity in the Students’
       Union.

3.     Support the Education Committee, Postgraduate Research Committee
       and Postgraduate Taught Committee by promoting elections to the
       Committee, organising and attending regular meetings, preparing
       agendas and ensuring that minutes are taken and submitted to
       Strategy Committee and Students’ Union Council.

4.     Working with the Student Representation Coordinator, oversee the
       Union Links and course representatives network, ensuring that
       arrangements are made to recruit and train Union Links, Faculty
       Representatives and course representatives each semester.


GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.  Represent students of the University to local and national bodies,
    organising campaigns in support of student interests.

2.     Represent students on University bodies, producing reports which shall
       be presented to the relevant Union Committees.

LIAISON WITH OTHER PERSONNEL
Liaison with other Union Officers, Union staff, students and University staff
forms a vital part of this role.

HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours min per week
DURATION OF CONTRACT: 12 months + 3 weeks as officer elect
SALARY: Annual salary £17,606
HOLIDAYS: 25 days pa plus public holidays + customary closure days
