His previous positions in Sales, Communications and Human Resources at Meltwater Group (a global software company headquartered in San Francisco), have given him an insight into understanding what truly motivates this new generation of Millennials. In his most recent endeavour, he is the Founder and CEO of Kintuition, a company that aims to foster interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence among Gen-Y in Asia. Cecilia will share her experiences as a senior manager looking for high performers across the company and provide some of the pet peeves as well as tips to help you be identified as a potential “star” employee. Cecilia Pang is a consultant with more than 20 years of experience in corporate reputation management and communications. She set up Turning Point Communications in 2009, a communications consulting company. Her clientele includes The Old Parliament House that runs the Art House and other art properties. In her previous appointment as Vice President, Corporate Marketing for Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific and Japan, she was responsible for advancing HP‟s corporate reputation and visibility across the APJ region with external stakeholders and employees. She was responsible for strategy setting and leadership in areas of brand marketing, corporate sponsorships, corporate media and analyst relations, employee and executive communications, corporate marketing events, and corporate affairs and philanthropy. Before joining HP, Cecilia worked at a state college in Washington State in the United States and was responsible for managing the college's public relations and Foundation Board‟s fund-raising activities. Cecilia has written for newspapers and magazines in both US and Singapore, and spoken at industry forums in the areas of managing internal and external communications, corporate sponsorships, corporate social responsibility and women in the workplace. She also volunteers as a docent at the Singapore Art Museum, National Museum of Singapore and the Peranakan Museum. Cecilia received a bachelor's of science in communications with highest honors from Oregon State University, U.S. She also completed a post-graduate International Executive Program with InSead Business School in Fontainebleau, France. Mr. Chang Siew Khang is CEO and founder of Talent Catalyst Pte Ltd (TC), a consultancy firm specialising in talent development and leadership development. Hired by the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation Pte Ltd (GIC) in 1991, he was appointed Director, Global Human Resource in 2 years and rose to head the Managing Director portfolio thereafter. He left GIC in Aug 2009 to set up Talent Catalyst Pte Ltd. Mr. Chang brings with him more than 25 years of people development experience at the global level in senior corporate management capacity. Research as a First Choice Career Dr. Chew Fook Tim, Assistant Professor and Deputy Head Department of Biological Sciences, NUS Dr. Chew Fook Tim, Assistant Professor and Deputy Head Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, NUS Main Research Areas: Allergens and Hypersensitivity; Molecular Immunology and Molecular Mimicry, Aerobiology; Epidemiology and Genetics of Asthma and Atopy; Hypoallergenic Vaccines, Auto-allergens and Pan-allergens. A passionate researcher, Dr Chew is particularly interested in the advocation of research as a first choice career. With a research slant in understanding the basis of what constitutes an „allergen‟, he has previously focused on delineating the molecular structure of major allergenic components from dust mites, cockroach, tropical pollen and spores, fungal allergens, as well as unique components from food proteins. He has recently initiated a genome-wide association study on atopy and allergic diseases in Singapore in collaboration with the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS), and Department of Otolaryngology and Paediatrics, National University of Singapore, funded by the Singapore Immunology Network. Making the Most of Yourself Ms. Ing Lilian Florence Elizabeth, Senior Clinical Psychologist, University Health and Wellness Centre, NUS In this session, you will learn about this transitioning process from university to the open market place: to anticipate it and identify some actions you can take to move forward with more confidence. You will be given a framework for understanding your behaviour as you face putting yourself and your skills on the open market, and how to manage your behaviour. You will learn a simple process for discovering what you do well, matching this with what you want to do, and taking steps to get there. Lilian has extensive experience and expertise in the assessment and development of individuals and organisations and has lived and worked internationally. She is a skilled Therapist, Executive and Organisational Coach and Trainer. Assignments have included the assessment and enhancement of employee engagement, employer branding, communication and change strategies, Vision and Values development, culture mapping and development, organisation design, valuing and managing for diversity, talent and leadership development, executive coaching and training and supervision. In addition to a BA (Hons) Psychology and MA Clinical Psychology, she also holds a Marketing Management Certificate and post-graduate certificates in Adoption and Attachment as well as in Organisational and Social Development. She is a Certified Solution Focused Therapist and Coach and Career Path Appreciation Practitioner. She holds accreditation by The Canadian Council of Professional Certification, Health Professions Council of South Africa and is a member of the Singapore Psychological Society. She has worked at NUS for the past 3.5y in Counselling and Psychological Services, where as a Senior Clinical Psychologist she currently supervises the 4 Student Support Managers in the faculties of FOS, FOE, FASS and SDE. Mr. Lim Der Shing, CEO, JobsFactory Mr. Lim Der Shing will draw on his experiences helping thousands of fresh graduates land their first job. As Senior Director and Country General Manager for Singapore, he is responsible for leading and driving all of Kelly Services operations, growing and expanding its business and investment opportunities in Singapore, managing the corporate functions and its Professional and Technical divisions, including Kelly Selection, Kelly Scientific Resources (KSR), Kelly IT Resources (KITR), and Kelly Engineering Resources (KER). Prior to his current role, Mark began his recruitment career with Kelly Services in London in 1995. He thereafter moved to a specialist professional services recruiter Harrison Willis, where he developed a specialization in the accountancy space. This change saw Mark’s career accelerate and diversify over a period of 12 years with the group (which was acquired and later demerged to become Hudson Global Resources), giving him the opportunity to lead and build practices across the UK in Procurement, Management Consultancy, and Interim Management. In his last position in Hudson UK, Mark was appointed as Managing Director of the Banking practice, and a member of the UK operating board in 2004. He was later appointed as the Country Manager for Singapore in 2006 where he ran a large multi- disciplined business for 2 years. Careers in Gaming, Media & Entertainment Mr. Raymond Wong, General Manager, Koei Co Ltd Mr. Raymond Wong sits on the Steering Committee of the IDA-driven National Info-communications Competency Framework, and is also the Chairman of the Technical Committee that looks at the industry standards for Games and Animation in Singapore. A key industry expert, he would be giving a bird‟s eye view of the local gaming talent development picture here in Singapore. Mr. Raymond Wong joined KOEI in 2004 and established the Singapore office, KOEI Entertainment Singapore Pte Ltd. As the General Manager of one of KOEI's first development studio outside of Japan, he manages the overall operations and project management. Prior to joining KOEI, he worked in the info-communications industry for more than 8 years, having been involved in a variety of roles from product development and support, business planning and development, and has also been a founder of his own technology company. A Career in the Public Service Ms. Bernadette Sim, Director, Personnel Policy, Public Service Division Mr. Joshua Shoo Jian Hao, Assistant Director, Career Transition and Resorts Policy, Public Service Division Ms. Bernadette Sim Bernadette has over 16 years of experience in human resource management and development. In her current position as Director Personnel Policy with the Public Service Division, Prime Minister‟s Office, her portfolio covers a wide range of key Human Resource areas which includes HR Capacity Development, Talent Attraction, Benefits and HR Information Systems. Prior to this, she was Director of People Matters with the Ministry of Finance shared services department – Vital.org. Bernadette has a unique position of having been a Regional Human Resource Practioner, and a Human Resource Consultant. She has the benefit of both developing and implementing polices and practices which best suit the organization. Bernadette started her career with Singapore Airlines as a scholar and later moved on to different private sector organizations with a focus on Human Resources. She has held regional roles in organizations such as SITA (a solution provider for the aviation industry) and Bain Strategy Consultants. Whilst with Ernst & Young Management Consultants, Bernadette led assignments which ranged from reviewing and re-engineering Human Resource Development Systems, developing best practices polices and systems and conducting professional training for clients from diverse industries. Mr. Joshua Shoo Jian Hao Joshua is currently Assistant Director, Career Transition & Resorts Policy, at the Public Service Division, Prime Minister‟s Office. Prior to his current appointment, Joshua was involved in biotechnology research, business and entrepreneurship, and in education both as a teacher and policy-maker. He describes his career journey, which has taken him around the world, as „diverse, eye-opening and full of excellent learning opportunities‟. Joshua is passionate about contributing to society, and committed to making a difference in others‟ lives. In his free time, he enjoys the performing arts, outdoors, and homemade ice-cream.
