How to EXIT SMe Correctly There are some procedures that should be followed when ending courses or sessions of SuccessMaker. It is vital that you follow these procedures so that student licenses are closed correctly, freeing up that license for the next student to use. PLEASE do not Force/Quit or other procedures you use at other times to end programs. 1. To end a course early (discourage this): a. Click on the Report Card b. Make sure the cursor is in the center of the screen c. Hit Control (Ctrl) and the letter Z 2. To end a student session in SuccessMaker follow both steps: a. Click on the STOP sign to close the course list b. GO OUT THE DOOR! Click on the door to exit 3. To exit the blue sign-in screen, use the escape ESC button located on the top left of the keyboard Should you find that students are getting a message that all licenses are used it is an indication that a license is “hung” or appears to be closed but is not. This can even happen as a result of power surges. At any rate, fixing this problem is very simple: 1. Go into the system as a System Administrator a. Click on the DESKTOP computer facing away from you b. Double click to open and a list of students ONLINE will appear c. Any student who is no longer online can be selected (single click) then click the Take Offline button. (This can be done with a right click on that student’s name for PC (Macintosh, Apple Key and click the mouse for right click function) A context-sensitive menu appears, including TAKE OFFLINE. 2. GREAT NEWS: with the new version (SMe 1.4), the system will take students who have been online longer than 80 minute off automatically! Very cool. Finally, FYI, when you are logged in as a teacher, you are not using a student license!
