How to use Video Projector in Emerson Room Media Services Center can be reached at (617) 824-8676 for any assistance. Step 1: Turn on Video Projector (Use the Crestron Black Control Panel on the wall) Press green button until it illuminates. At this time, the projector will lower from the ceiling and begin operation. PLEASE NOTE DURING THE PROJECTOR’S START UP AND COOL DOWN TIME (ABOUT 1 MINUTE), THE
CONTROL PANEL WILL BLINK AND NOT RESPOND TO CONTROL. THIS IS A NORMAL SAFETY FEATURE OF THE EQUIPMENT. PLEASE BE PATIENT AND WAIT FOR THE EQUIPMENT TO COMPLETE IT’S OPERATION.
Step 2: Lower Screen (Use the beige button next to the Crestron Control Panel) Toggle switch up or down to operate, when the screen stops, toggle to the center position.
Step 3: Turn on power to units located in cabinet below mirror To turn on power you should turn on the very top unit (the master power switch). Also, power up the VCR, DVD player, or any unit that you would like to use and have not turned on yet. Most likely all units may be on, but please check to ensure proper usage. Step 4: Choose the source that you need to use Using the Crestron panel (pictured above), you can choose a source and control it’s operation The following is an overview of the different sources you can choose: Using a VHS/DVD/CD/Cassette Tape Choose VCR for VHS, DVD, CD, AM/FM, CASS, or VIDEO (This is for a visiting deck-see below for further instruction). Use the Function section to control the transport (Play/Stop/FF/REW/Pause) of chosen deck. Please note the play and pause function are controlled from the same button. Press once to play, press again to pause, and press once again to resume playing. To control the DVD menu section, use the buttons in the DVD CONTROL section. Using a Computer Choose CMPTR on the source area of control panel. Attach one end of VGA cable (stored in the right hand section of the VCR cabinet) to your laptop and the other end to the “COMPUTER” input on silver plate on the wall. If using an Apple Powerbook or iBook, please bring adapter.
Hint: It is advisable to start the projector first then start the laptop. This allows the laptop to detect an output signal is being sent to the video projector. After your laptop and data projector are connected, locate the ‘Fn’ key and the ‘F5’ key on your keyboard.
The combination of these two buttons cycles the laptop through sending the image to just the laptop display, to the projector and laptop both, and just to the projector. If the ‘F5’ button doesn’t work, use the ‘Fn’ button and the ‘F8’ button: some laptop manufactures are just quirky that way. Please contact Media Services Center (x8676) for special assistance with any computer projection. Using a visiting deck or camcorder Choose the VIDEO source button: This is the aux input for any portable units such as digital camera. Please contact Media Services Center for special assistance with any aux video/audio projection. Connect audio and video inputs to the silver plate on the wall. Step 5: Control of audio levels Make adjustment using the “up” or “down” button on the Volume control of the Crestron Panel. The LED meter indicates the current level, and there is also a mute button to mute the sound, if this button is lit, audio will not be heard in the room. Troubleshooting Problems Problems that can arise might be the control panel does not change your source. Please allow 5 seconds while toggling between sources, this is a safety feature to avoid jammed signals. No audio. Make sure the mute button is not on. If there is still no sound, look into the rack cabinet, the very bottom is the amplifier, and make sure that has power and is turned up.
