Kitchner Workshop: Thursday 1/8, 6:30 – 8:00
Relax, take a deep breath, and come practice Kitchener Stitch, aka grafting. This is the nifty little seaming technique that is
completely invisible and smooth. Ronda will provide written directions, illustrations and a new mantra to chant as you graft your
stitches. You will leave class with new confidence in your Kitchener Stitching and feel more relaxed from the back of your neck
(grafting one-direction scarf patterns ) to the tip of your toes (closing up your socks seamlessly).
Quick Start Knit: (each time is a separate class) Saturdays 1/10, 1/24, 2/7, 2/21 10:30 – 12:00
Want to learn the basics but don't have the time for a series? If you have never knit at all, this class is for you. In just 90 minutes you’ll
learn to cast-on, knit, and bind off – enough skills to make a scarf. You'll need worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles. Supplies are
available at the class.
Quick Start Crochet: (each time is a separate class) Saturdays 1/17, 1/31, 2/14, 2/28 10:30 – 12:00
Want to start hooking? We mean with yarn and a crochet hook of course. This is just like the Quick Start for knitting – you’ll learn
the basics of single crochet, double crochet and a couple other flips of the wrist that’ll get you going. A great way to see if you’re
interested, or just dusting off your hooks.
Knit Pickers (Continental Knitting) Thursday 1/15 6:30 – 8:00
Learn to carry your yarn in your left hand, rather than “throwing” with your right. Learning continental knitting will give you so many
more options in your knitting toolbox. It’s faster in general and great for two-color work. Leahe will share her tips and tricks and her
unique and creative perspective on knitting. Bring worsted weight yarn and needles.
Basic Cables: Saturday 1/17 1:00 – 2:30, or Thursday 1/22 6:30 – 8:00
Mastering this skill will enable you to make a ton of stuff that looks schmancy but really isn’t too tricky to get your hands around.
Seamingly Simple: Saturday 1/24 1:00 – 2:30, or Wednesday 2/11 10:30 – 12:00
Nothing can ruin beautiful knitting quite like messy seams. Learn to sew up those sides, sleeves and shoulders with ease. Bring your
un-seamed project that’s been staring at you reproachfully and finish it with instruction. Pick up seaming tricks and knitting tips for
the next project’s smooth finishing. Bring a tapestry needle, yarn to sew with, and your blocked pieces to seam.
Anatomy of a Pattern: Thursday 1/29 6:30 – 8:00 or Saturday 1/31 1:00 – 2:30
Can’t tell the different between a K2tog and a psso? Learn all the acronyms and other short hand pattern writers use, and then the sky
will be the limit with your knitting. A great primer for those ready to move beyond the scarf.
Knitting Math: Wednesday 2/4 10:30 – 12:00, or Thursday 2/12 6:30 – 8:00
Have you ever wondered if you have enough yarn in your stash to make a scarf or a baby blanket? Learn the magic yardage estimation
formula, how to measure gauge, how needle size and gauge are related, and how to figure how many skeins you will need for a project
when you want to substitute a yarn. Skills needed to take this class - CO, knit, purl, BO. Bring a pencil, note pad and calculator.
Knit in the Round: Thursday 2/5 6:30 – 8:00
Learn this skill, and skip seams for all kinds of projects from hats to sleeves to anything else you’d knit in a circle (think socks). Done
on either double points or a circular needle, it’s a great skill builder.
Oops! I dropped it again!: Thursday 2/19 6:30 – 8:00
Does your knitting look funny? Tired of starting over? Learn the perfect tricks for correcting knitted errors in one quick session. We'll
cover dropped stitches, headache-free ripping back, unwanted holes and more! Know how to knit and purl and we will take it from
there. All levels welcome.
