               METALLICA ROCKS NASSAU COLISEUM AND
                 DONATES TO LONG ISLAND CARES

                                                        Veteran heavy metal super group
                                                        Metallica performed for a sold-out
                                                        audience at the Nassau County
                                                        Veterans Memorial Coliseum on
                                                        Thursday evening, January 29, and at
                                                        the end of their show donated a
                                                        portion of the proceeds from the
                                                        ticket sales to Long Island Cares,
                                                        Inc., The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
                                                        Metallica is currently on a world tour
promoting their new CD “Death Magnetic”, which has earned four Grammy Award
nominations.

       Long Island Cares’ Executive Director Paule Pachter was on hand in the second row
for the sold-out concert. Commented Pachter: “Long Island Cares is extremely grateful to
Metallica and their organization for their support of hunger action programs across the
country and for reaching out to Feeding America and Long Island Cares. The generous
donation from Metallica, is their way of asking their fans-- by example-- to support
community organizations and causes such as fighting hunger—no matter where they may
live across the country.”

       Long Island Cares was founded in 1980 by the late singer/activist Harry Chapin in
response to the immediate needs of hungry Long Islanders. It is continued today by his wife

and partner Sandy Chapin who serves as Board Chair. Long Island Cares provides
