HOW TO BUILD A SCARECROW All scarecrows must be “SURVIVORS” each entry must withstand the outside weather. Scarecrows should not include any perishable materials such as real pumpkin heads. If you are using stockings or pantyhose for the head, cut off the legs and put one inside the other for extra strength. Small plastic grocery bags work great for stuffing. Stuff the head into the correct shape. Tie the head loosely at the neck end. A tee shirt works very well also. Paint a face on with acrylic paint or permanent marker, or stitch features on. Drape any clothing onto the poles. Stuff and tie off at the wrist, ankles and waist. Attach strands of wool, straw, raffia, wigs or material for hair and place under a hat. Attach gloves for hands. Use your imagination; this is the best tool you have.
