Listserv / Email Lists

An email list is a list of people's names and email addresses that is used to send messages to many
people at once (at UNB or not). The people on the mailing list (subscribers) usually have a common
interest in the contents of the messages. It is different from a mailing list that you may have on
your own machine in that many people will have access to send to the list.

UNB uses LISTSERV software to administer electronic mailing lists. The listserv product provides
many useful features that are not available on a local email list.

To apply for a new email list, you must be or be sponsored by an active member of the UNB faculty
or staff. The application form is available in My UNB e-Services under the Email/Calendar tab >
Listserv/Email Lists.

For more information on requesting or managing email lists, refer to the Listserv/Email Lists FAQ
below or contact Professional Client Services.

Activity on UNB-sponsored email lists must comply with UNB's Network and Computing Policy.

the list must comply with UNB's Network and Computing Policy.

Who can apply for a UNB email list?

administrators will be notified when the list is ready.

How long does your UNB email list remain active?

Email lists must be renewed annually. An email message will be send to the list sponsor 2 weeks
prior to expiry. It is the responsibility of the list sponsor to renew the list. (The list administrator
and list sponsor is generally the same person.)

How does a listserv sponsor renew a list?

An online listserv renewal form is available in the UNB Faculty & Staff My UNB e-Services portal
under the Email/Calendar Tab > Listserv/Email Lists.
