Kerry McGeath is currently the Director of the Southlake (TX) Public Library, and came to work in libraries after 25 years of retail experience. He managed his first business operation at 18 and was employed full time while working on his Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts at Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis. He majored in Political Science and Philosophy and continued his education to receive a Masters in Library Science from Indiana University in 1989. Working to make a living and paying for school at the same time created a situation in which he became adept at taking theoretical principles and applying them to real world situations. Mr. McGeath is very interested in integrating the knowledge he accumulated during a 25 year retail career into the library field, and attempting to find the proper balance between retail and library concepts to create a hybrid that is better then either. Objectives • Developing key accountability indicators for your organization to measure and market a library, or library department. • Developing indicators of productivity for ones workforce or department. • How to use numbers to ones advantage in day to day operational decisions. Date: December 11, 2007 Location: Southlake Public Library Meeting Room Time: 1:00—4:00 with a fifteen minute break
There will be 3 CE hours given for this workshop.
