                                       KC3 READING AWARD

The KC 3 Reading program is sponsored by the Greater Kansas City Association of School
Librarians. It promotes reading by providing an annual recommended list of quality books for third
graders and for special education students of this reading level. Selections are intended to bridge the
gap between picture books and chapter books.

Students throughout the Kansas City area who have read, or have had read to them, at least FOUR
titles from the master list will vote for their favorite by March 1. Ballots will be prepared for school
librarians to distribute and collect from participating classrooms.

The author of the winning title will receive special recognition from the sponsoring organization.

The KC3 Honor Roll recognizes those teachers who have read aloud to their classrooms at least four
books from the current list. They will receive a certificate of commendation and a copy of the author’s
response.
