Practical Approaches to Translation Resources

Number of spaces available 15 maximum (due to PCs availability in IT labs)
Languages Non language specific (all languages welcome)
Time Tuesdays 6 - 8 pm
Fee £ 240
Early booking fee: £200 when booked by 1st October 2009.
Who is it for? Modern Languages and Translation students and non-
experienced translators who want to acquire the practical skills
and evaluative competencies needed to work with dictionaries
and a variety of translation tools and resources
Entry requirements A good command of English and of a second language
Course Objectives To familiarise students with different types of
dictionaries/glossaries and appropriate contexts for
use with hands-on practice in IT labs
To develop strategies for the efficient and appropriate
use of translation resources and their evaluation
To illustrate when these translation resources can be
used effectively in the translation process
Course Structure 2 hours: one hour lecture and one hour workshop in IT labs
