Pegher „02 How to Eat Fried Worms By Thomas Rockwell An Enrichment Project Purpose for Reading Statement: How to Eat Fried Worms is a hilarious story of a boy named Billy and his bet with his friends. After reading about each worm, you will be asked to answer questions with your opinion and proofs from the story. While reading, pay attention to writing style, characters, plot, mood and theme. Reminder Statement:         Make sure you and your parents have signed the contract. Please head each Journal Entry with the Chapters Numerals and the Worm Number. Write neatly and clearly. Please Number Your Answers and skip spaces between answers. Use events or information from the stories to explain your thoughts. Do not go on to the next Performance Task until you have checked off the roster. Your teacher will then conference with you and may ask you to stretch your thinking and rework your answer. Each paragraph must accomplish its Performance Task with a rating of 3 or 4 on the Reading Rubric. Reminder Statement: Choose one of the chapters to read aloud with your teacher and your group. Also choose a preferred method of Read Aloud to review this chapter. Write a paragraph which answers all of the following questions:  What were the rules of the test?  How long did he have to do it?  What did Billy have to do?  What did Alan have to do? 4. Write a paragraph that explains if you would be willing to eat 15 worms for $50. 5. What would you do for $50? Make a list five things. Please write your items in sentences. Chapters II-IV: Worm #1 Read Chapters II-IV with a partner. BE CAREFUL—the boys are talking with accents! Read it out loud, pretending that you are in a fancy restaurant where they ONLY serve delicious worm! 1. Do you think it was fair for them to make Billy eat a night crawler? Use sentences from the book to prove that it was or was not fair. Write your answer in paragraph form. 2. Inside the cover of your journal, begin a list of ways that the boys cook the worm. Worms #7 and #8 seem pretty easy for Billy to eat. Do you think Joe and Alan will try to trick him again? Write a paragraph that proves your opinion with three reasons. 2. When you are finished, read over your answers for the whole book. Then ask your teacher for a “Frying Pan Project Contract.” Congratulations! You finished the book!
