BLACK FRIDAY
DIRECTOR STATEMENT
" The 1993 Bomb Blast in Mumbai (then Bombay) changed the socio-political
fiber of the country for ever. Black Friday tries to delve deep into the
case files to find out what really happened. The camera is sometimes an
investigative journalist trying to solve a puzzle; sometimes a documentary
eye capturing the insanity of the 1993 Mumbai. And sometimes a passionate
friend peeping into the minds of people who were deeply involved. It has
been my sincere effort not to have let the director be seen in this film at
all. I and the entire force that went into creating Black Friday have been
maniacal about it. We wanted to tell the story of the blasts - in the public
domain. So tomorrow, the next generation doesn't repeat the idiotic
mistakes. So is Black Friday good cinema? That's for you to judge. But we
are happy that we have managed to put together a film that tells a story
that has disturbed me and a big bunch of people for the last 11 years."
