The History of Thanksgiving
By Nathan Parks and Anthony Resendez
The history of Thanksgiving tells us why we celebrate the holiday. In 1621 the Pilgrims sailed the Mayflower to America. They landed at Cape Cod, Massachusetts. They built homes and raised crops. The harvest was very
successful. They were friends with the Indians. By the 10th century, many states were celebrating Thanksgiving. Today we celebrate Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November. The history of
Thanksgiving helps us understand this holiday.
