Volume 4 Number 47 Ann Arbor Church of Christ, 2500 S. Main, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 November 18, 2007 Welcome Welcome to the Ann Arbor Church of Christ! We are so glad God brought you to us today and it’s our prayer that He will use us to bring you even closer to Him. During our Sunday morning worship hour we offer a Bible-based worship program for children ages 3 through 1st Grade, and 2nd-4th Grade. Children who wish to participate will be dismissed after the Lord’s Supper. There is also a cry room for training small children in the back of the auditorium where you and your children can still see and hear the service. If you would like to know more about us, our services, or our ministries, one of our shepherds or ministers will be happy to talk with you. We would love to help you in any way we can! Community Outreach Thanksgiving Food Program TODAY, November 18, we will be handing out Thanksgiving food from 2:00 to 4:00 to families in the community. Through a number of channels we receive family names, invite them to our building, and give them all the food for a Thanksgiving dinner. This year we have partnered with Country Markets in Saline for the food. Please pray for the families that we will meet. Would you like to help? See Michael Boyd To get the latest information on Community Outreach events and opportunities, send an email to Michael@annarborchurchofchrist.com to have your name added to the mail list. We have four family Christmas events to look forward to, so mark your calendars for the following: Service Opportunity For a number of years, the Luttrell family has volunteered with Meals on Wheels on Thanksgiving Day. This year they would like to extend an invitation to anyone in the congregation who is interested to join them in this effort: This year, Ypsilanti Meals On Wheels really needs volunteers to deliver meals on Thanksgiving day. They are feeding about 200 seniors and others who are recuperating at home and can't get out or fix their own meals. Call Meals On Wheels at 487-9669 and sign up to volunteer before the holiday. 10 a.m. Thursday, November 22 Meet at the Meals On Wheels office: First Baptist Church 1110 West Cross Street Ypsilanti Bring a large box and a cooler. You will pick up the food at the church and deliver to your assigned route. It usually takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to deliver to 4-6 homes in the Ypsilanti/ Ypsilanti Township area. At 12:30 p.m. - Go home and enjoy your own Thanksgiving dinner with the warm feeling of knowing you have brightened someone else's holiday! For more information, please contact Char Luttrell. Sunday, December 9 Following our Sunday morning service we will have a family Christmas lunch in the fellowship hall. We'll enjoy food (details about food are to follow in the next couple of weeks), fellowship and entertainment from our own members! We want our members to showcase your talents by singing, reading poetry, playing an instrument, doing a skit, or whatever you can come up with...you're limited only by your own creativity. If you would like to participate in the entertainment, contact Emily Jobe. To help with food, contact Amy Jo Perry. To help with decoration, see Kelli Glenn. Wednesday, December 19 For our Wednesday evening service, our church family will go Christmas caroling around to neighborhood assisted-living facilities. We'd like to invite our friends in the community to join us in this event so we can all have fun and brighten the days of some of our senior neighbors! For more information, contact Lance or Amy Jo Perry. Monday, December 24 We'll be putting together a Christmas Eve candlelight service for this evening. From Tom Luckett: I shared with all of you on Sunday, my mom was in the hospital getting treatment for shingles and being monitored for complications due to her diabetes. Thank you for your prayers; she went home this week. I would like for you to continue to pray for her that she obtains strength on her ongoing battles over weight control. On another note, ironically while my dad was visiting my mom this past Monday in the hospital, he had a heart attack. They took him from Herrick hospital in Tecumseh to St. Joseph hospital in Ann Arbor by life flight. He had two shunts placed into his arteries. The doctors feel that his arteries are unclogged and that there was minor damage done to his heart. I believe it was a blessing in disguise because if he would have had this at home, he probably would not have made it. Please pray for him to receive a speedy recovery. Thanks for the prayers. ~Tom Wendy Roman's grandmother - please pray for her as she’s not doing well. Geri Mattocks' Mom - surgery on November 28th, dealing with cancer.
