November 2008
The month of November is notable for several reasons. The greatest of which is to give thanks to our God at the time of Thanksgiving. With all of the news of the past several months, it is still great to be an American and member of the Turtle Point family. It is also a great value to be a Turtle Point member! Your staff is working hard to make sure that each of your visits is one that you will cherish. Chef Mark and his culinary team are working to develop the special menu mix that will assure you of outstanding choices for you and your family. Please help us by letting us know your thoughts on the menu choices but also your ideas about how we can make the menu better. One of the food and beverage changes that you may have noted is the change in the Wednesday buffet lunch. Recently, Chef Mark and his staff went to freshly prepared Panini sandwiches along with a soup, salad and baked potato bar. This change will help us to not only prepare the food necessary to serve you but to also assure you that the food presentation is as fresh as possible. Mike Claiborne and Zack Miskell along with Cathy Jacobs have been busy developing the fall and winter tennis programs. While many of you are currently taking advantage of the men’s, women’s and junior programs there are still openings for those of you wishing to join in these activities. Cathy Jacobs is also assisting Chef Mark with party bookings. While many of the prime dates have already been booked there are many others that are still available. Please do not hesitate to contact Cathy, Chef Mark or me if we can help you plan your special party or to book a special event. Speaking on special events, the boating members plan on outdoing themselves again this year with the Parade of Lights. Jeff Johnson has highlighted these opportunities in the Commodore’s Corner. Remember, you don’t have to be a boating member to attend. Many thanks to Laura Adderholt, Tina Johnson, Tina Neill and their committee for all of their efforts in putting together a great adult Halloween party. The golf course is also in great shape and the weather could not be better for a round of golf. Glen Junkin and his team are to be congratulated for their ongoing efforts. Not to be forgotten, Les Holcombe, our Master Golf Professional, and our golf staff are working hard to provide great value in the golf shop while also providing great golfing experiences. Please refer to Les’s article in this newsletter for specific opportunities along with the accolades to our Fall Member/Member winners. You may have noticed the trenches from the clubhouse up to the short game practice area. These trenches contain the pipes necessary to transport the club’s wastewater. Very soon, the process will be completed and on line which will finally solve this troubling issue. In closing while it sometimes the tendency to curtail activities during trying economic times, it is also the best of time to share time and fellowship with your family. At Turtle Point you also have your extended family that is made up of your fellow members along with your staff members. If all of us work together, we can truly keep Turtle Point the special place it is not only for today but for the years to follow. Please do not hesitate to contact me with your comments, criticisms and suggestions.

Catering Corner
Please take time to call and discuss your party needs with Cathy Jacobs who is now assisting the club as your Catering and Special Events coordinator.
