ImagiNation Sports in partnership with Athletes for A Better Detroit, an educational and recreational non-
profit, and the New Detroit Science Center would like to secure a partnership with your organization and
other local sponsors to facilitate a learning based after-school program exploring the math and science of
sports, reading fundamentals, and career opportunities in technology.

The ADB 3010 Tech Lab and Weekly Reading Program will be launched in the Spring of 2005 targeting 100
Detroit area schools. The sponsorship will include appearances by Detroit Tigers players and alumni, as well
as appearances by Athletes for A Better Detroit members at area schools and community based events,
leading up to the ABD 3010 World Tournament, a youth academic and fitness competition on Saturday,
July 9, 2005 at Willie Horton Baseball and Softball Diamonds. The ABD World Tournament allows
participation in four areas of competition to win cool prizes including Major League Baseball All Star Fan
Festival Tickets:

•Obstacle Baseball Physical Fitness Challenge
•Baseball 3010 Trading Card Game Tournament & Math Science Quiz Bowl
•Future Funk Lyricalympics Music Talent Battles (Hosted by FM 98 WJLB’s Dr. Darrius)

Throughout the 2005-06 school year, Athletes for A Better Detroit will host its 12-week after school program
that, promotes math and science enrichment, physical fitness, and reading fundamentals. This program was
developed to address the concern that most youth violence occurs during the after school hours, 3:30 pm –
8:00 pm. Moreover, in Detroit, an estimated 47% of adults are functionally illiterate, over 455,000 that cannot
read at basic levels. Our goal is to expand delivery of our after school module to over 100 Metro Detroit
schools during the 2005 –06 school campaign to excite children about learning to help reverse these trends.
