THERMAL SHOCK
TESTING MACHINE
The     machine        fully              respects      the
ASTM-C 149-50 testing regulations
and it is furthermore able to execute
the ASTM-C 224 testing procedures.
The machine is provided with one hot
and cold water temperature control
system by means of 2 electronic
regulators and 2 thermocouple. One
electronic regulator controls the
water temperature inside the cold
tank through the control of one cold
water     supply               solenoid             valve
connected with water inlet, hot water
which exceeds the full of the tank is
drained. Once the programmed temperature is reached, the
electronic regulator controls the closing of the cold water supply solenoid valve.
The other regulator controls the water temperature inside the hot tank through one closed circuit on
one external electric heater. Both cold and hot tanks are provided with one circuit with pumps for
continuous water recycle from lower part to the upper one of each tank. Considering the 20˚C inlet
water and having the possibility to heat the water up to about 85˚C, the maximum thermal head is of
about 65˚C. It is possible to heighten the thermal head by providing the equipment with a 16 kW heater
instead of the standard one of 8 kW and foreseeing, by customer side, one cooling unit installed on
the cold water recycle system. The system guarantees a ± 1˚C accuracy. The stay time of the
containers inside the tanks is regulated by 2 independent timers with one setting range 0 ÷ 999
seconds and one accuracy of ± 0,1% of set value. Transfer time for the basket from hot bath to the cold
one is of 15 ± 2 seconds. The tanks have one useful capacity of 270 liters and "outer basket"
dimensions are 600 x 550 x h = 400 mm. The construction material of the tanks is in Stainless steel
AISI 304, while construction material of the basket is in galvanised steel. Number of bottles that can
be loaded in the "outer basket" is in relation of the bottles diameter (to be checked by the Customer).
Customer is supposed to have available several "inner baskets" with suitable internal spacers in order
to prevent bottles shaking during the test procedure.
