Hi,

I've a question about genetic algorithms:
Is it possible to combine them with constraints similar
to integer linear programming?

In my example, I have three integer values a,b, and c which
can have values between 0 and 512. I want to use a genetic
algorithm to find the best combination between those three
values.

However, in addition it must be guaranteed that the sum of
all these values does not exceed 512. Thus, a combination
like a=256, b=256, c=100 is invalid.

Can genetic algorithms be applied to such problems? If so,
what extensions are required for the constraints?

Regards,
Tim
