					                 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
                BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE METROPOLITAN
                   SCHOOL DISTRICT OF WABASH COUNTY

        A meeting of the Board of Education (the "Board") of the Metropolitan School
District of Wabash County, Indiana ("School District"), was held at the Administration
Office at 204 N. 300 W., Wabash, IN on May 26, 2009 at 7:00 o'clock p.m. (EST),
pursuant to notice duly given to all members in accordance with I.C. 20-26-4-1, I.C. 20-
26-4-3, I.C. 5-14-1.5 and the rules of the Board.

       The meeting was called to order by President Paul Karst, who presided. Dr.
Sandra Weaver, Superintendent, and Dr. Brian K. Dawson, Assistant Superintendent,
were also present. On call of the roll, the members of the Board were shown to be
present as follows: Present: Paul Karst, Kevin Bowman, and Troy Baer. Matt Driscoll
and John Gouveia were absent. Also present were Lavonne Sparling, Joni Schmazried,
Mody Eads, Trey Eads, Christina Sapusek, Weston Sapusek, Amy Howenstine, Sandra
Boone, Alyssa Richter, Vanessa Harlen, Joe Richter, and Cheryl Roser, who took the
minutes of the meeting.

       The pledge to the flag was recited.

       Future meetings are scheduled for Monday, June 8, 2009, June 23, 2009, and July
14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. all at the Administration Office.

       Minutes of the Tuesday, May 12, 2009, Regular Meeting, were approved upon
motion made by Kevin Bowman, a second by Troy Baer, and unanimously carried.

     The Claims were approved upon a motion made by Troy Baer, a second by Kevin
Bowman, and unanimously carried.

      The Indiana Bond Bank Borrowing Resolution was approved upon a motion made
by Kevin Bowman, a second by Troy Baer, and unanimously carried.

      Recommendation for approval to enter into a lease agreement with IKON was
approved upon a motion made by Troy Baer, a second by Kevin Bowman, and
unanimously carried.

       Under Personnel Recommendations:

        The resignation of Jim Wenrich, Northfield High School boys and girls Golf
Coach, effective the end of the 2008-09 school year; Heather Rumple, Southwood High
School Speech Team Coach, effective the end of the 2008-09 school year were approved
upon a motion made by Kevin Bowman, a second by Troy Baer, and unanimously
carried.

       The maternity leave request of Tyanne Bailey, WMAP, Teacher, effective August
12, 2009 through September 14, 2009 was approved upon a motion made by Troy Baer, a
second by Kevin Bowman, and unanimously carried.

        The retirement of Oren Guenin, Sharp Creek Elementary, Principal, effective the
end of the 2009-10 school year; Morris Smedley, Northfield High School, Teacher,
effective May 26, 2009 were approved upon a motion made by Troy Baer, a second by
Kevin Bowman, and unanimously carried.

        The recommendation of employment of Katie Bitzel, Northfield High School,
Summer Secretary, effective May 28, 2009 through June 26, 2009 and August 1, 2009
until the start of school; Nicki Holmes, School Nurse, effective August 4, 2009 were
approved upon a motion made by Troy Baer, a second by Kevin Bowman, and
unanimously carried.

      The recommendation to approve the addendum to contract for D’Ann Stouffer,
Beginning Teacher Mentoring, $1,200.00; Sherry Yenna, Beginning Teacher Mentoring,
$600.00; Tim Drake, Beginning Teacher Mentoring, $600.00; Gay Lynn Hobbs,
Beginning Teacher Mentoring, $600.00; Tammy Shafer, Beginning Teacher Mentoring,
$1,200.00 were approved upon a motion made by Troy Baer, a second by Kevin
Bowman, and unanimously carried.

       Under Student Recognition:

       Dr. Weaver recognized Andrew Eckerly, Alyssa Richter, Weston Sapusek, and
Trey Eads, students at Northfield Jr/Sr High School, for the accomplishments in the
recent American Math Contest as well as the Northfield band for receiving the highest
ISSMA score at their contest site and placing second in their division at the Smokey
Mountain Music Festival in Gatlinburg, TN.

       Under Superintendent’s Report:

       Dr. Weaver reported to the Board the statistics of MSD students using the Student
Assistance Program at the Bowen Center. Ninety-seven students were served which
shows that students are using this program.

       Dr. Weaver reviewed the changes that need to be made for the 2009-10 school
calendar mandated by the State Superintendent. Currently consideration is being made for
those changes and will continue to be processed with the updated calendar to be approved
by the Board at an upcoming meeting.

       Curriculum Report:

        Lavonne Sparling updated the Board on the on-line summer classes that are now
available to students wishing to earn credits during the summer. Currently there are three
or four students enrolled to take classes on-line. Taking classes on-line is a very cost
effective way to earn credits as the State will reimburse the cost of the class with students
only having to pay to register.

        Teachers have three graduate courses available this summer to earn credits toward
their degree.

       Under New Business:

       Recommendation to approve a trip for Southwood High School FFA to State
FFA Convention at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, June 15-17, 2009 was
approved upon a motion made by Troy Baer, a second by Kevin Bowman, and
unanimously carried.

      Recommendation to approve two stimulus related positions for WMAP were
approved upon a motion made by Troy Baer, a second by Kevin Bowman, and
unanimously carried.

      Recommendation to approve summer school staff was approved upon a motion
made by Kevin Bowman, a second by Troy Baer, and unanimously carried.

        Recommendation to continue to explore a Wellness benefit package for staff was
approved upon a motion by Kevin Bowman, a second by Troy Baer, and unanimously
carried.

        Recommendation to approve the application of a Title II Part D Grant was
approved upon a motion by Kevin Bowman, a second by Troy Baer, and unanimously
carried.

        There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned
at 8:02 p.m.
