1. Highway 14 in Steele County
Description: Grade and surface from Waseca County Road 5 to Steele County Road 7 and
construct the I-35/Hwy. 14 interchange. Project is about 14 miles.
Construction Dates: Phase 1: July 2009 – Nov. 2009 (3 year project)
Construction Estimate: $51,823,568
Traffic Impacts: Intermittent lane closures on Interstate 35 for 2009.

2. Highway 30 in Dodge and Steele Counties
Description: Bituminous mill and overlay on Hwy. 30 from Blooming Prairie to Hayfield (Hwy. 218 to
Hwy. 56). Project is about 11 miles.
Construction Dates: May – June 2009
Construction Estimate: $1,858,438
Traffic Impacts: Daily lane closures with flaggers. Detour in effect during the railroad crossing
replacement work in Blooming Prairie.

3. Highway 30 in Fillmore and Olmsted Counties
Description: Preventive maintenance – Bituminous mill and overlay on Hwy. 30 in Olmsted County
from the Root River Bridge to Hwy. 52. This project is tied to the overlay on Hwy. 52 for a total project
length of about 17 miles.
Construction Dates: July – Aug. 2009
Construction Estimate: $306,445
Traffic Impacts: Daily lane closures with flaggers.

4. Interstate 35 in Rice County
Description: Bridge rehabilitation on ten bridges on Interstate 35 north and southbound lanes in
Faribault, from Rice County Road 48 to Hwy. 21. This project will be staged with the I-35 overlay
project, an American Recovery and Reinvestment Project.
Construction Dates: May – Sept. 2009
Construction Estimate: $8,222,358 (cost of both projects)
Traffic Impacts: Head to head traffic on southbound lanes, then head to head traffic on northbound
lanes.
Status: Contract let on March 27, 2009 – Crane Creek Asphalt/Division of Mathy Construction Co.

5. Interstate 35 in Steele County
Description: Unbonded concrete overlay, culvert replacements and guardrail work on Interstate 35
northbound lanes, from about a half miles north of Hwy. 30 to three miles south of Owatonna. Project
is about nine miles.
Construction Dates: July – Nov. 2009
Construction Cost: $9,402,700
Traffic Impacts: Head to head traffic on southbound lanes.

Description: Bituminous overlay on Hwy. 52 in Olmsted County from Chatfield to Marion (I-90). This

Construction Estimate: $1,367,574

11. Highway 60 in Goodhue County
Description: Bituminous mill and overlay on Hwy. 60, from Kenyon to Zumbrota (north junction of
Hwy. 56 to Hwy. 52). Project is about 15 miles.

Construction Cost: $3,297,589
Traffic Impacts: Daily lane closures with flaggers. A detour will be in effect between Kenyon and
Wanamingo during culvert replacement.

12. Highway 60 in Goodhue and Rice Counties
Description: Bituminous mill and overlay on Hwy. 60, from the east end of the Straight River Bridge

14. Highway 60 in Rice County
Description: Reconstruct the historic Viaduct Bridge over the Straight River in Faribault. The project
also includes grading, surfacing and widening the road in addition to curb and gutter work and signing
and lighting installation.
Construction Dates: Feb. – Oct. 2009
Construction Cost: $8,892,177
Traffic Impacts: Hwy. 60 will be closed from First Ave. to Sixth Ave. in Faribault. Detour is Ravine
Street and Sixth Ave.
Status: Contract let on Nov. 21, 2008 – Ames Construction is the prime contractor.

15. Highway 61 in Wabasha County
Description: Bituminous mill and overlay on Hwy. 61 northbound lanes from Winona to Kellogg
(Hwy. 14 to Hwy. 42) and southbound lanes from Hwy. 14 to Hwy. 248. Project is about 24 miles.
Construction Dates: May – Sept. 2009
Construction Cost: $6,797,553
Traffic Impacts: There will be a 10 calendar day detour for culvert replacements between 54th Ave
in Goodview and Winona County Road 32. Detour is 54th Ave. and County Road 32. The remaining
work will be completed under daily lane closures.
Status: Contract let on Jan. 23, 2009 – Knife River Corporation – North Central (apparent low

16. Highway 63 in Olmsted County

Total Construction Cost: $687,488
Traffic Impacts: Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction with long term lane closures.
