							  BLESSED SACRAMENT ALTAR SERVER CHECKLIST
            (REMEMBER: REVERENCE IS WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT!)

      Arrive at church 15 minutes before Mass is to begin
      Remember to observe prayerful silence in the sacristy at all times
            Sign in
            Get vested
            Put on dress shoes
            Put your shoes on shelf
      Make sure following items are in place: wine – water – finger bowl – finger towel –
      chalice – book – altar bread – tabernacle key
      Light candles 5 minutes before Mass
      Line up when priest is ready for the prayer before Holy Mass
      Turn on light above tabernacle, ring bell, cross yourself with holy water, lead priest out,
      genuflect together at center and proceed to your chairs (weekday Mass)
      Keep hands folded, fingers pointing up – when seated, hands flat on legs

LITURGY OF THE WORD
    Remain seated until the Gospel
    On Sundays and all school masses: candle-bearers accompany priest to the center, bow
    and process to the ambo for the proclamation of the holy Gospel
    After the gospel (stand for Creed on Sundays/Solemnities) and Prayers of the Faithful

PREPARATION OF THE GIFTS (OFFERTORY)
    After the prayers of the faithful, take the Sacramentary to the altar, put the stand on the
    altar (if priest wants it), place Sacramentary on stand and proceed to the credence table
    Place chalice and ciborium (if necessary) on the altar, return lids to credence table along
    with chalice veil and burse, after the priest has prepared the vessels
    On Sundays: 3 servers will go with priest to bottom of steps to receive gifts (one will
    take collection box directly to sacristy) take ciborium to altar as above and cruet to the
    credence table, remove the tops, bring the water and wine to altar
    Priest will pour wine into chalice and then add water to the wine
    Bow to priest and return to credence table
    One server will carry the water and the other will carry the finger bowl and towel (unfold
    finger towel) and go to the altar
    Wash priest’s hands and hand him the towel so he can dry them
    Bow to priest and go back to table
    Collect patens and place them on the step (your station for the consecration)

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
    Kneel on steps after the Sanctus
    When priest puts his hands over chalice – 1st ring of the bells (one sustained the ring as
    long as the priest’s hands are extended over the gifts)
    When priest elevates the host and then the chalice: ring bells 3 times (praying to yourself
    slowly, “my Lord and my God” at each ring and at each pause)
    Ring bells one time as priest receives the Precious Blood, pray: “my Lord and my God”
    Always return the bells to the floor gently so as not to muffle the ring
    Remove your paten from case and prepare to receive Holy Communion
    Always keep paten flat when assisting priest or Extraordinary Minister of Holy
    Communion and always trail them during Holy Communion
    The first server finished with Communion will put paten on corner of altar, get the water
    in hand and kneel (the other server will place the other paten on corner of altar)
    Sunday/All School: the 2 servers on the east side will put their patens on corner of altar
    and kneel.
    Priest will put the ciborium in the tabernacle and genuflect
    One server will pour the water over the priest’s fingers into the chalice, bow and return to
    credence table
    As the priest purifies, return all vessels to credence table and sacramentary to chair
    Altar servers go back to their seats and stand while priest blesses congregation

CONCLUDING RITE
   If ever crossing the center, always genuflect to tabernacle unless carrying something
   After final blessing, return to middle while priest kisses the altar, genuflect with the
   priest, and wait for priest to leave, servers leading priest out
   Sunday: book bearer goes directly to sacristy and extinguishes candles at end of hymn.
   At the back of church, the cross bearer stops and turns while the candles bow to the cross.
   After receiving the priest’s blessing, cross and candles then return in procession with
   candles lit to the sacristy along the east aisle of the church.
   Weekday masses: bow to crucifix in sacristy and then turn and kneel for priest’s blessing
   Pour the water from the finger bowl into the Sacrarium (white sink)
   Bring wine, water, book, chalice, and anything left on credence table to the sacristy and
   put them in their proper places
   When finished kneel at the side of the tabernacle and pray the Anima Christi together
   Return to sacristy, divest and put albs back in the proper lockers (42 in the 42 locker)
   Hang them up properly and snap the snaps
   Put dress shoes back
