This accomplished young man has already received his single engine pilot’s license, but is currently unable to fly because of the medications he takes for his illness, sarcoma of the liver. So, his wish is to sit behind the pilot on a cross-country flight and see first-hand what happens inside a cockpit. After an extensive search, the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation® (www.makewish.org) is partnering with Wilson & Associates, P.L.L.C., (www.wilson-assoc.com) headquartered in Little Rock, AR, to make this wish come true. Robert M. Wilson, Jr., Managing Attorney for the law firm, has stepped forward and offered to have Christopher fly in a jump seat in the cockpit of his private jet. Christopher’s wish flight will take place on Tuesday, October 16. Christopher will begin his journey on the four- seater Wilson jet from a private airport in Dulles, VA. During a brief stop in Little Rock, AR, Christopher will meet Robert M. Wilson, Jr., Managing Attorney for the law firm, and be treated to a few special surprises. Then Christopher will take off again for San Francisco where the plane will land at another private location and a few more surprises await. “Considering the security regulations that govern the airline industry, this was a challenging wish to fulfill,” noted Patricia Wilson, Executive Director of the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation. “We were advised it would be impossible to have Christopher fly on a commercial flight, so we contacted our board and advisors to seek their assistance with this special request. As usual - they came to our rescue! To have someone from Arkansas volunteer to help with a Bay Area wish is really amazing. Robert Wilson is truly a hero by making this boy’s wish come true.” “We are honored to be a part of this wish. Flying has been a passion of mine for many years. I share Christopher’s love for it,” added Robert Wilson of Wilson & Associates. Christopher’s wish experience began on Friday, October 12 when he and his family flew from San Francisco to Washington D.C. In Washington arrangements were made for Christopher to visit the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport, the National Air and Space Museum main campus, located on the National Mall, and the International Spy Museum. About the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation® In 2007, the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation celebrates 23 years of fulfilling magical wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses. One of the largest chapters nationwide, it has granted over 4,400 wishes in its 17 Northern California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Marin, Monterey, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Siskiyou, Solano and Sonoma. The goal of the Greater Bay Area chapter is to grant a wish to every eligible child in its territory. Anyone can refer a child for a wish. In 2005, the Chapter was recognized with a coveted “Best in America Seal of Excellence” award, the first Make-A-Wish Chapter to achieve this distinction for its outstanding management and governance practices. Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, or 5 percent, meet or exceed these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal.
