4      Electrical Specifications and Electrical Configuration
The CGR32321 module utilizes the NT7703 LCD segment/common driver with data transfer in 4 bit
databus.

The CGR32321 standard configuration is to be use in conjunction with an external LCD controller.
Other options including touch panel option is available, please consult factory for latest
configurations.

4.6 Start up and Shutdown Precautions
LCD driver used in this modules may be permanently damaged by high current if voltage is supplied
to the LCD driver power supply while the logic system power supply is floating.

   •    When connecting power to this device, connect the LCD driver power after connecting the
        logic system power.
    • When disconnecting power, disconnect logic system power after disconnecting the LCD
        driver power.
    • Connect a serial resistor (50~100 ohm) or fuse to the LCD driver power V0 of the system as a
        current limiting device. Also set a suitable value of the resistor in consideration of LCD
        display grade.
When connecting the logic power supply, the logic condition of the LSI inside the LCD drivers is
insecure. Connect the LCD driver power supply only after resetting the logic condition of this LSI
inside to the DISPOFF function. After that, The DISPOFF cancel the function after the the LCD
driver supply has become stable. When disconnecting the power, set the LCD driver output pins to
level V5 on the DISPOFF function. After that, disconnect the logic system power after
disconnecting the LCD driver power.

Note 3 )     When input signal for selecting or non-selecting the dots to be measured are applied
             using the optical characteristics test method shown in Fig. 5.1.1. The response
             characteristics of the photo-detector output are measured as shown in Fig. 5.1.2.

Note 4 )     This optical data is specified on condition that the LCD temperature is 25°C. When
             designing, be sure to check the rating of V0 in table 3.

Note 5 )     The response characteristics of photo-detector output are measured as shown in Fig.
             5.1.2, assuming that input signals are applied so as to select and deselect the dots to be
             measured, in the optical characteristics test method.

7   Precautions Relating to Product Handling
The following precautions will guide you in handling our product correctly.

1) Liquid crystal display devices
      1. The liquid crystal display device panel used in the liquid crystal display module is made
           of glass. Avoid any strong mechanical shock. If the glass should break, handle it with
           care.
      2. The polarizer on the surface of the LCD is relatively soft. Care must be taken to prevent
           scratches.
2) Protection of liquid crystal display module against static electricity discharge
      1. When working with the module, be sure to ground your body and any electrical equipment
           you may be using. We strongly recommend using anti-static mats, to protect worktables
           against the hazards of electrical shock.
      2. We recommend wearing a ESP grounding strap when handling the module.
      3. Slowly and carefully remove the protective film from the LCD module, since this can
           generate static electricity.

3) When the LCD modules must be stored for long periods of time
     1. Protect the modules from high temperatures and humidity.
     2. Keep the modules away from direct sunlight or direct exposure to ultraviolet rays.

4) Use the module with a power supply that is equipped with overcurrent protection since the
   module does not employ current limiting protection circuitry.

5) Do not ingest the LCD fluid if it should leak out of a damaged LCD module. If hands or clothing
   come in contact with the LCD fluid, wash immediately with soap and water.

6) Conductivity is not guaranteed for models that use metal holders where solder connections
   between the metal holder and the PCB are not used. Please contact us to discuss appropriate
   ways to assure conductivity.

7) For models which use CCFL backlighting:
      1. CCFL backlights operate at voltage levels greater than 200 volts. Precautions must be
         taken to avoid electrical shock.
      2. Using CCFL backlighting for extended periods of time at low temperatures will
         significantly shorten their service life.

8) For models which used touch panels:
      1. Do not stack modules because they can be damaged by components on neighboring
         modules.
      2. Do not place heavy objects on top of the product because this can cause the glass to break.

9) Models which use flexible cable, heat seal or TAB:
     1. In order to maintain reliability, do not touch or hold by the connector area.
     2. Avoid bending, pulling, or any other excessive forces, which can result in broken
         connectors.
