PERLAKSANAAN PERKHIDMATAN BIMBINGAN DAN KAUNSELING SEKOLAH

							THE COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE PRACTICUM TRAINING AT FOSEE,
            MULTIMEDIA UNIVERSITY, MELAKA.



                                   ABSTRACT




This practicum report describes the implementation of counseling and guidance
practicum training at Counseling and Guidance Unit, FOSEE, Multimedia University
(MMU), Melaka. The practicum training has provided the trainee counselor the
opportunity to apply theories, technique and counseling skills, to gain knowledge and
effectiveness, obtain new experiences and increase self-confidence in conducting the
individual and group counseling session in future. Throughout the 23-week practicum
training period, the trainee counselor has conducted individual counseling sessions,
group counseling, guidance activities, consultation as well as management and
administrative duties. The outcome of the practicum for individual counseling
revealed that personal problems were frequently shared by clients, while the Malays
and female clients were the largest in number to get the trainee counselor’s service.
All the clients were voluntary. Besides having at least two individual counseling
sessions with a client, the trainee counselor has also taken about 30 minutes to 45
minutes to conduct one individual counseling session. For group counseling, ten
sessions has been conducted and each session took about 45 minutes to 75 minutes. In
addition, the trainee counselor also conducted a research regarding the relationship
between emotional quotient (EQ) and work values of lecturers. The trainee counselor
obtained meaningful guidance from the supervisor and full cooperation by all parties
in FOSEE. The support and cooperation given has contributed to the success of this
practicum training.
