Commercial & Architectural Photographers imagicdigital.com • 215.964.9800 © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Naval Square – Philadelphia, PA A renovation designed by JK Roller Architects turned this historic but neglected naval hospital into upscale Toll Brothers condominiums. The design and photos have garnered several awards, including one from the Philadelphia Preservation Alliance. This photo was shot using our mosaic technique, wherein the final image is composed of several rows and columns of photos, stitched together and rendered to create a perfect-perspective, ultra high resolution image. The photo also takes advantage of our high dynamic range (HDR) technique, wherein each shot is actually a hand-melded combination of up to nine different exposures. The huge “Toll Brothers” sales banners were digitally removed from the fronts of four of the columns. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Philadelphia City Hall This magnificent building was modeled after the Louvre and Big Ben, and was the tallest building in the world when it was built. To obtain this unique perspective of the massive facade, this image was shot in mosaic style from street-level in front of the building. HDR techniques were also used to capture the full range of light, from the evening sky to the offices thorugh the windows. Passers-by were avoided by shooting in sections, or by using multiple exposures to “erase” them out of the shot. We used HDR techniques to combine seven exposures and capture the depth of the room, which we arranged and styled carefully for this shot, aiming to show as many amenities as possible in a pleasing image. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital The Carolina Hotel – Pinehurst, NC This grand historic hotel is the centerpiece of Pinehurst’s sprawling golf resort, which includes four hotels and eight courses, including the Donald Ross designed worldfamous “Pinehurst No. 2.” Shot from a ladder directly in front of the eponymous shrubbery, this image is a panorama composed of six segments, stitched together for this otherwise impossible view. The traffic on the busy entryway was avoided by shooting in parts, so no disruption was noticed by the resort guests. This photo also makes use of HDR-combined exposures, allowing us to show the full range from the gleaming whites of the facade to the rocking chairs in the cool shadows of the wraparound porches. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital New York City – South View Taken from the top of the Empire State Building, this panorama was shot on the first anniversary of September 11. The view, looking down Broadway to lower Manhattan, includes the Flatiron Building, Ground Zero and Wall Street, the Statue of Libery, Ellis Island, the Verazzano Narrows Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge and even the lights on the tip of Sandy Hook, NJ in the ocean in the far background. Because building security does not allow tripods on the Observation Deck, this image was shot with a steady hand, through the safety bars, in four parts, and then stitched together in the studio to create the all-encompassing vista. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Pine Hill Golf Club – Pine Hill, NJ Pine Hill Golf Club is located a stone’s throw away from one of the best and most prestigious courses in the world – Pine Valley – and it shows in the gorgeous and varied terrain. This shot of Hole No. 2, a challenging par 3, was taken from a helicopter, hovering 15 feet above the tee. The high perspective of the shot allows one to see and understand the layout of the hole as if looking at a hole map, while showcasing the beauty of the design. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Townhouse – Philadelphia, PA The main room in this four-level Center City townhouse is suffused with sunlight from the floor to ceiling windows at both ends of the long, narrow room. To showcase the natural light, and present a wide view of the whole room without making it look too stretched, we shot this image in mosaic and high dynamic range style. Six columns and four rows of photos make up this final image, with each component “square” being composed of five different exposures. Two sets of polarized shots were also combined into the final to reduce the glare on shiny surfaces and allow the rich textured wood to show through. The result is an ultra high resolution image, that shows the interior and view out the window. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Benjamin Franklin Parkway – Philadelphia, PA Adorned with flags from all the countries of the world, Philadelphia’s Ben Franklin Parkway is an iconic and beautiful entryway to downtown Center City. Photographed for the manufacturers of the streetlights that line the boulevard all the way from the Art Museum to Love Park and City Hall, this image is a prime example of our HDR technique. Many exposures have been combined to create a final image that presents the twilight ambiance, the foreground flowers, the evening moon and also shows the actual shape and construction of the main subject – the lights. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Wine Cellar – Vernon, NJ This private dining room in the Ballyowen Golf Club at Crystal Springs Resort boasts a full wine cellar as it’s decor. The room – being underground – was dark, with no sunlight, and any artificial lighting or flash would reflect distractingly from the windows to the wine rooms, obsuring one of the main features of the space. To achieve this final image, we used 12 different exposures, hand-combined, to show the rich colors of the room, from the shadows beneath the mahogany tables to the points of light in the antique chandeliers. And the wine racks! © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Wachovia Private Banking Office – Winston-Salem, NC A specialized banking office that deals only in family trust funds, this lobby area was thoughtfully designed by Nelson Architects to maximize the privacy of the bank’s clients. To showcase the comfortable yet business-oriented arrangements, decored with high-end materials, this image was shot in segments and then stitched together for a wide view that included the company name. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Stirling Ridge – Warren, NJ This banquet center in the Skyland Mountains of Northern New Jersey is a popular getaway and center for social events for the New York City crowd. The recent renovations present a look that is both rustic and classy, almost traditional but with modern touches. To showcase the rich wood and stonework, along with the unique chandeliers and wine room, we shot this image at a wide angle, without the use of any artificial light. Many exposures were then hand-combined to reduce glare and bring the full range of colors and textures into full detail. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Empire State Building – New York, NY This iconic image was shot from a helicopter hovering over Manhattan. In fact, the helicopter was so close to the building that the crowds on the observation deck stopped looking down, and started waving to us. Shot with a wide-angle lens, this photograph captures almost the full height of the building. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Hotel Lobby – Phoeniz, AZ Decored in locally-sourced marble, wood and glass, this elegant hotel lobby presented many reflective surfaces, all with detailed textures. To capture all of the patterns, from the inlaid wood above the ceiling lamp to the marbling in the floor tile, we combined several exposures and different lens polarizations to create this vibrant final image. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital St. Patrick’s Cathedral – New York, NY An extreme example of a mosaic view, this image – composed of several rows and columns of photos stitched together – was shot from directly on the front steps of the church. This allowed us to capture the whole facade of the building, avoiding passers-by and traffic on busy 5th Avenue in Manhattan. © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital Ferris Wheel – Wildwood, NJ Morey’s Piers amusment parks were looking for some updated imagery to use for promotions that captured the excitement and thrills of these parks for all ages. Their LED lighted ferris wheel offered the opportunity to capture great shapes and colors, shot from a vantage point on one of the adjacent rides! © 2008 Mark Henninger – Imagic Digital
