Found with a collar deeply embedded into her neck, a one-yearold female Chow/Lab mix later named Liberty came to the SPCA of Texas in such terrible condition that immediate surgery was necessary. Thanks to a phone call from concerned neighbors, she was found by the SPCA Rescue and Investigations team on a property that had been abandoned for several months.

Springtime Blooms with Adoptions
For the eleventh year in a row, the SPCA of Texas’ kiosk at Spring at the Galleria helped find homes for many of the SPCA’s adoptable pets. Between April 1 and April 15 at the SPCA’s booth, 47 dogs, 13 puppies, 7 kittens and 5 cats found new homes. Plus, over $3,600 in donations to the SPCA came in during those two weeks! In the 11 years that the SPCA has made animals available for adoption during this springtime Galleria event, more than 1,250 cats and dogs have found homes. The SPCA would like to extend a huge thank you to the Galleria for hosting, to all the volunteers who made the event go so smoothly and to all who came in to visit and adopt. ---------------------------The SPCA would also like to thank the New Car Dealers Association of Metropolitan Dallas for their outstanding generosity in hosting the SPCA’s Offsite Adoptions team at the Dallas Auto Show April 5 through April 9. During the five-day event, 10 dogs, 2 puppies and 2 cats found their forever homes and $800 in donations were made. Additionally, in excess of $3,200 in merchandise was sold. Thank you NCDA!
Upon gaining custody of Liberty, an SPCA veterinarian surgically removed the collar and the sewed the wound shut. Knowing that Liberty had a long way to go to be nursed back to good health, the SPCA placed her into a wonderful foster home where she Pictured above is everyone remained for more than three weeks. Thanks who helped give liberty a to the loving care given to Liberty, she not second chance. only fully recovered, but also learned to become a friendly, trusting and social dog once again. Liberty deserved nothing but the best, and that’s what she ultimately received. The dream of a new forever home quickly came true for Liberty. Soon after release from foster care, she was adopted and now has a fantastic new family to love. But this dream wouldn’t have become a reality without that observant neighbor, the SPCA’s Rescue and Investigations department, a first-rate medical team, the loving foster home and an adopter who came in at just the right moment and found the pet of their dreams. **The SPCA of Texas’ second annual Pet Flix 2006 is coming this August 20, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Studio Movie Grill-Addison! The SPCA is also still accepting submissions from amateur and professional filmmakers, but the deadline for entry is July 22, 2006. To submit a film for consideration, visit www.spca.org for the official guidelines. **Pets from the SPCA are available for adoption on many Saturdays throughout the year at the Pet Adoption Center sponsored by Reliant Energy in partnership with General Growth Properties, Inc. at the following malls in the Metroplex area: Collin Creek Mall, Hulen Mall, The Parks at Arlington, Stonebriar Center, Town East Mall and Vista Ridge Mall. Reuniting Families on the Lost and Found e-Pole
The SPCA has taken the idea of posting pictures and information about lost and found pets on neighborhood signs and telephone poles and put it on the web. Called the Lost and Found e-Pole, this online resource allows the community to post photos and descriptions of lost and found pets in the hopes of reuniting them with their owners. We ask that people posting information about a lost or found pet include a detailed description of the pet, the area or neighborhood where the animal was lost or found, a picture if available and contact information. The post will stay on the SPCA’s e-Pole for one month, after which the person may again submit their information. If a person posts an animal to the e-Pole and wants to do more, the SPCA invites them to also place an ad in their local paper, post actual signs around their neighborhood, go door to door and utilize other online services.
