This year marks the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. Fought primarily in two theaters - Europe and the Pacific - the global conflict led to the deaths of 50 million people. Sunday, May 8, marks the anniversary of the end of the war in Europe, where Allied forces brought down the Nazi regime of Adolph Hitler. The anniversary of the war's end in the Pacific will be celebrated with VJ Day - or Victory over Japan - in August.
