We hope you have an enjoyable trip to Grand Valley State University and The Meadows Golf Course. A Certified Athletic Trainer will be on site at The Meadows during competition. We will have hot packs, ice bags, and basic first aid supplies available at the clubhouse during the tournament. Electrical stim modalities and ultrasound will be available in the training room at the Fieldhouse. Check at the Fieldhouse upon arrival for the location of the training room. If your team is not traveling with an athletic trainer, any athletes currently receiving treatment must bring written protocols for any modality treatment. A letter, hand carried by the student-athlete or coach and presented to our athletic training staff will suffice. The athletic training room at the Fieldhouse will be available for treatments as needed throughout the tournament. Sunday May 4, 2008 we will be on call for the practice round, and we will be on site May 5-7 at 6:30 am should anything be needed prior to each day’s play. There are two hospitals in downtown Grand Rapids, Spectrum Health Care and St. Mary’s hospital. These hospitals are only several blocks apart. GVSU primarily uses St. Mary’s because of our team physician’s affiliation with this hospital. Dr. VanNoord at Metro Health in Hudsonville will be on call during the tournament. Dr. VanNoord’s phone number is listed on the Medical Staff Phone List included in this packet. Please contact me to help facilitate any appointments that may be needed with our physicians. Good luck during the Regional Golf Tournament. Please feel free to call me with any questions (616) 331-3329. You may also reach me via email at stoessnm@gvsu.edu.
