IN YOUR CORNER - (The Merrimack Valley Chamber Working Behind the Scene for you!) TAX FACTOR TO DROP Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce President, Joe Bevilacqua and Vice President, Wil Carpenter were in attendance and testified at the Towns of Andover’s, and North Andover’s and the City of Methuen’s recently held Tax Classification Hearings, to support the Chamber’s position regarding commercial/industrial classification. The Chamber, joined by member companies sought to reduce the current business rate. Chamber President Joe Bevilacqua, in a letter to the Selectmen and Councillors which was also sent to member companies, advocated for reducing the current tax rate. The good news is that the commercial/inductrial tax obligation will in fact decrease in Andover and Methuen. The Chamber office notes that as tax classification hearings in other local communities are scheduled, your Merrimack Valley Chamber will advocate for a reduced tax rate for business and industry at those classification hearings.
