                                        PTO Meeting Minutes
                                     Tuesday, September 8, 2009
Call to Order:
By President Bill McCoy at 1:30 p.m.
All members were welcomed by Bill McCoy and introductions made.

Members Present:
Julie Blair, Kay Carver, Beverly Connell, Rebecca Dill, Kim Gardner, Tracy Gilbert, Patricia Harrell, Diane Krug, Bill
McCoy, Michalyn Palmer, Kathleen Spencer, Ruth Wade, Bob Zlockie.

Minutes – Tracy Gilbert:
    The minutes from the Tuesday, August 18, 2009 meeting were approved by e-mail on Tuesday, September
       8, 2009 by the PTO board members that were present at the meeting.
    Ruth Wade made a motion to approve the Tuesday, August 18, 2009 PTO Meeting Minutes as is.
    Kay Carver seconded the motion.
    Motion to approve the Tuesday, August 18, 2009 PTO Meeting Minutes as is approved.

Treasurer’s Report - Kay Carver: (August 01 – August 31)
    The opening balance as of August 01, 2009 was $ 2,448.21
    The closing balance as of August 31, 2009 is $ 4,014.22
    Total allocated but not dispersed funds = $ $2,000.00
        PTO Senior Scholarship - $ 500.00
        Graduation Expenses - $ 1,500.00
    The August account activity is as follows:
       Deposits:
        08-14-09:                    Deposit from Uniform Sales - $ 1,160.00.
        08-14-09 to 08-31-09:        Deposits from Membership Dues - $ 1,010.00.
       Total Deposits = $ 2,170.00
       Withdrawals:
        08-26-09     Check Requested to Florida State College for Scholarship Award for $500.00
        08-28-09     Check Requested to Rebecca Dill for Parent Welcome Back Breakfast for $104.03
       Total Withdrawals = $ 604.03
    Balance available minus allocated funds = $ 2,014.22
        Rebecca Dill made a motion to approve Treasurer’s Report as presented.
        Kim Gardner seconded the motion.
        Motion to approve Treasurer’s Report as presented approved.

Head of School Report - Beverly Connell
    Open House - How did Open House run? Please call or e-mail Beverly Connell with your comments and/or
      questions at 726-5000 or bconnell@gsjax.org
    IPP - Individual Program Plan will now be called SCIG - Student Centered Instructional Goals.

Teacher Representative - Diane Krug:

    Student Council will be having a Game Night on Friday, September 11 . Volunteers are needed.
      Student Council is requesting that the PTO purchase bottled water, Capri Suns, flavored water packets,
      and pastries.

President Report - Bill McCoy:
    PTO Membership dues levels are well below last year’s. If you have not joined the PTO please do. All
      monies go to the students.

    The deadline for sending in your form for the Student Directory will be Thursday, September 17 .

New Business:
Julie Blair:

     The FROG race will be on Friday, September 25 .
         Please work with your student to sell those tickets.
         Tickets are only $1.00.
         Support our wetlands; buy a FROG!

Patricia Harrell:
     Terracycle Recycling Program
         All proceeds from this program will go to purchasing an information sign for in front of the school.
     Great Lakes Gift Card Sale
         Each gift card costs its face value. You pay $50.00 for a $50.00 gift card.
         The amount of money the school receives for is different for each card/store.
         We would like to have the students sell the cards and make one purchase before the end of November
           so the cards would be back in time for holiday gifts.
Volleyball Concessions:
     If you can help with volleyball game concessions, please contact Kim Gardner at skmgard3@bellsouth.net.
        Students can also volunteer.
Box Tops:
     If you shop online please use the General Mills Box Tops for Education website to make your purchases.
        The school receives money for your purchases with no cost to you.
Yard Sale:

     Student Council will be having a Yard Sale on Saturday, October 3 . Please donate your unwanted items
        to the sale. Please come out and support the school by coming to the sale.
Supply Cart:
     There will be a supply cart started which will have paper, folders, pencils, pens, and other supplies students
        need.
         Volunteers are needed to “Man the cart” Monday through Friday at 7:45 a.m. and at 12:00 p.m.
         Volunteers please contact Michalyn Palmer at 220-1576 or michalynp@aol.com.
BJ’s Membership Cards:
     You can get a BJ’s membership card for $20.00 through The Greenwood School. Ask the office for a form
        to take to BJ’s to get the discount.

Wish List Items: The following items were presented for consideration.
    Ms. Freeman requested a 12” Blue Political Globe for 4,800 points from the Campbell’s Catalog.
        Rebecca Dill donated the globe to the school.
        The 4,800 Campbell’s points were not used.
    Ms. Krug requested a 5’ 6” tall plastic skeleton with stand for $261.03.
        Rebecca Dill made a motion to approve the 5’ 6” tall plastic Skeleton with stand for $261.03.
        Michalyn Palmer seconded the motion.
        Motion to approve the 5’ 6” tall plastic skeleton with stand for $261.03 approved.
    Mrs. Blair requested an iPod shuffle for 6,700 points from the Campbell’s Catalog.
        Michalyn Palmer made a motion to approve an iPod shuffle for 6,700 points from the Campbell’s
          Catalog.
        Patricia Harrell seconded the motion.
        Motion to approve an iPod shuffle for 6,700 points from the Campbell’s Catalog approved.

PTO Meetings:
    All meetings will be held on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. They will be held in The Greenwood School conference
      room, unless otherwise announced.
