Coach disgraced
BILISI, Georgia — Georgia coach Alexander Chivadze will resign after Wednesday’s Euro 2004 qualifier against Switzerland, the national federation president Merab Dzhordania said Monday. “This was so unexpected that I’m not yet ready to talk about his successor,” said Dzhordania. Chivadze will resign regardless of the result of Wednesday’s game. He came under heavy criticism after Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Ireland in a Euro 2004 qualifier. The defeat left Georgia winless at the bottom of the Group 10 standings. —AP
