Lots 150–170 have been placed at auction by the descendants of Felix Webster McBryde. Dr. McBryde (19081995) was an explorer, cultural geographer, academic, author and lecturer who worked extensively in Central and South America. A brief catalogue of his professional travels (during which he collected the property on sale) would include a seven-month reconnaissance through the Maya region as photographer and geographer on a 1928 expedition from Tulane University; field research in Guatemala for the Carnegie Institution in 1932; a year with indigenous people in Guatemala and El Salvador in 1935; and many more years of travel for the study of Indian a g r i c u l t u r a l p r a c t i c e s . D r. M c B r y d e organized the American Society of Professional Geographers. His text on the cultural geography of Guatemala, published in 1947 by the Smithsonian Institution, is considered seminal in its field.

Lots 811 - 839 come from the estate of anthropologists Ferdinand and Else Eastlake Okada, whose work and studies took them to Nepal, Indonesia and Zambia between 1950 and 1982.
