Heritage Park is located in Jacobs Field behind the center-field fence near the East 9th Street gate, replacing a picnic area.

Opening Day at Jacobs Field today will mark the grand opening of Heritage Park, the new home of the Indians Hall of Fame. Heritage Park, located behind the center-field fence, will be open before, during and after games, allowing fans to stroll through and remember some of the top players and moments in Indians history.

The upper level of the park is paved with personalized bricks purchased by fans. The lower portion will be repaved similarly next year.

Ring of fame

Honoring the all-time 100, and a baseball tragedy

The monuments on the upper level commemorate the members of the Indians Hall of Fame who are also enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. The monuments on the lower level honor players who are in the Indians’ Hall of Fame alone.

The bowed brick wall on the lower level of the park is embedded with 100 small plaques, one for each player selected in 2001 as the best 100 players in the Indians’ first century (see below). On the wall to the left is a plaque from League Park, the team’s old home, commemorating second baseman Ray Chapman. On Aug. light to filter in without affecting batters’ ability to see pitches.
