Bay Area Baseball Slumps
It hasn’t been a great year for the Oakland athletics or San Francisco. Ticket sales have been down and attendance is at an all time low. The A’s traded away Dan Haren, Rich Harden, Joe Blanton and Nick Swisher. They acquired many up and coming prospects which clearly means they are looking forward to the future. On the other hand, the giants acquired Aaron Rowand in the off season and brought up minor league prospects that have contributed. Because of their youth, both ball clubs have suffered from losing records. Nevertheless, each team has it’s own standouts; Kurt Suzuki for the A’s and Tim Lincecum for the giants. Kurt leads the A’s with a .291 batting average and is having a gold glove season behind the plate. Tim Lincecum is lighting it up in the national league. Many analysts have him winning the cy young. He leads the NL in E.R.A (2.60)and strikeouts (192). Both teams are in the rebuilding stage and are hoping to have a great 09-10 season
