Beautiful Pere Marquette brown.
Howdy folks, hope all is well with everyone. We had a great fall run of
salmon this year and there are still some small balls arriving as we speak.
Soon it will all be over and begin a new chapter on the famed river,
STEELHEAD!! The Collegiate Steelhead tournament will begin this
weekend; we are expecting a large turn out this year. Sign up at the Pere
Marquette River Lodge on Saturday. For any additional information
contact the fly shop or Jeff Burg at 586-531-7724.
Deer rifle season will soon be upon us and the river will be a
desolate body of water. If you want solitude and don’t hunt, this is the
time to do it. The fishing is also typically very good. I always have a
tough time during the fall, do I fish or do I hunt. Upland bird hunting has
been pretty good with several ruffed grouse being pushed and a few
falling to the might shotgun. Waterfowl hunting is always good, geese
and ducks making their annual migration to the south. Don’t forget
snowmobiling will begin too as well.
Things are heating up around here even though the air temps are
falling. Hope to see you up here for some fantastic activities.

FISHING/RIVER
FISHING/RIVER NEWS
The kings are winding down; however there is still a decent number in
the river extending the buffet of caviar rolling down the river. Browns are
finishing there spawning ritual and will begin to feast aggressively. They
will be very hungry and with the recent high water swinging or stripping
streamers should produce. Steelhead have arrived and more filtering in,
these torpedoes are here to do one thing, FEED! Steelhead are feasting
on eggs, nymphs and streamers to pack on the pounds for the rest of the
winter months. Now is a great time to battle one of these chrome rockets
and put your skills to the ultimate test. Rods a jumping and reels
screaming, fall steelhead will put a huge smile on anybody’s face even if
you don’t land the brute. “Did you see that!” is the most common
response we hear from clients as that silver bullet performs their
acrobatic stunts several times and then disappears. If you are looking for
a fantastic time on the river come on up and visit us. The weather is
turning to the ugly side snow is falling as you receive this. So be safe out
there, dress appropriately and take a kid fishing they are our future.
Gabe and client with fall chrome, nice job!
