The Senior Pastor will preach, teach and provide primary leadership to the church purposes of Worship, Discipleship, Fellowship, Ministry and Evangelism. Objectives: The Senior Pastor will discern and effectively communicate God’s vision for Crossgate, keeping it before the people in creative, compelling ways that promote personal and church growth. The Senior Pastor will focus on establishing Crossgate as a powerful influence for the kingdom of God. Authority & Accountability: The Senior Pastor will serve under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and with accountability and authority as provided by the Crossgate church charter. Senior Pastor: Responsibilities Worship: 1. Regularly preach and teach the Word of God and administer the ordinances for the congregation, inspiring people into a deeper and closer relationship with Christ. 2. Plan and lead worship in conjunction with the other pastors or leaders of music, the arts and worship planning teams. 3. Officiate at special services such as weddings, funerals, baptisms or community events in partnership with other pastoral staff. 4. Work with the worship pastor to develop and maintain music programs for all ages and to integrate music and the arts into worship services and other areas of congregational need. Administration: 1. Oversee the administration and management of all areas of congregational activities in consultation with teams and ministries. 2. Support and assist pastors and staff who have primary responsibilities in all ministries of the church. 3. Support, supervise, manage and regularly evaluate the church staff as defined by the church charter. 4. Build team concepts among church staff and hold regular staff meetings to coordinate the ministries and administration of the church and facilitate communication. 5. Serve as the staff representative for the trustees, deacons and other teams that may be outlined within the church. Senior Pastor Responsibilities: continued Stewardship: 1. Promote, educate, and advocate responsible biblical stewardship within the congregation. 2. Assist with financial matters and concerns of Crossgate Church including the promotion of capital fund and debt reduction campaigns. 3. Promote benevolence, missions and community financial needs to the congregation. Outreach: 1. Lead and demonstrate effective ways to witness and win the lost to salvation through Jesus Christ by implementing ministries that will reach out to our community. 2. Direct the assimilation of new members into the life of the church promoting their involvement in worship, lifegroups and ministry. 3. Encourage all ministries of Crossgate to carry out their work with an emphasis on welcoming others to participate in their ministry. General Responsibilities: 1. Adhere to the Church Charter. 2. Promote pastoral care through visitation and spiritual counseling in cooperation with the deacons and other pastoral staff. 3. Quickly and effectively respond to congregational crisis or need. Keep lines of communication open. 4. Maintain appropriate office hours to allow accessibility by staff and church members. 5. Maintain a vital and wholesome personal relationship with the Lord through daily Bible study and prayer. Our Church Crossgate Church, formerly Second Baptist Church, was founded over a hundred years ago and continues to be an important part of the history of Hot Springs, Arkansas. In 2002, the 800-plus congregation determined that a new facility and location were needed to satisfy increased attendance demands along with the demographic needs of our church ministries. In 2004, Second Baptist relocated to their newly constructed 131,000 sq. ft. facility on 78 acres and formally changed their name to Crossgate Church. This move gave the 800-plus congregation the needed space, functionality, and flexibility for their multi-faceted ministry. Crossgate has a unique culture of a young family orientation, contemporary worship, fundamental Bible teaching, and openness to new methods. The body is unified and focused. The challenge of growth in people and finances are considered opportunities under the leadership of the pastor that Gods sends to us.
