                                   ABSTRACT


Nursiami, Ika. 05420449. Scaffolding Talk System for Learning English in the
     Third Year Students of SD Negeri Jenggot Pekalongan in the Academic Year
     2008/2009. First advisor; Drs. Moh. Wahyu W, M.Pd., and second advisor;
     Dra. Ratna Kusumawardhani, M.Pd.

The objectives of the study are (1) To find out the students technique in learning
English by using scaffolding talk system. (2) To identify the students’ problems in
learning English by using scaffolding talk system in the third year of SD Negeri
Jenggot Pekalongan in the academic year 2008/2009. (3) To suggest some
possible solutions to solve the problems in learning English by using scaffolding
system in the third year students of SD Negeri Jenggot Pekalongan in the
academic year 2008/2009.

In analyzing the data, the writer used descriptive quantitative. The population of
this study is the third year students of SD Negeri Jenggot Pekalongan in the
academic year 2008/2009. The subject of this study is 20 students consist of 11
males and 9 females.

In collecting the primary data, the writer carried out through class observation and
interview. Each cycle consisted of a teaching learning process and interviewed the
students one by one. The interview was meant to support the primary data and the
field notes were used to observe the situation of the class during each cycle of the
study.

The result of the research showed that the students’ progress in learning English
using scaffolding talk system during this activity was good. The average of
students’ achievement was 80,23%. The main factor affecting this improvement
were the students’ like and interest of learning English using scaffolding talk
system. Based on the study, it is found that using scaffolding talk system for
learning English is very beneficial for the students’ speaking skill.

     The writer realizes if in this thesis has found so many mistakes; it is all

because the writer has limited knowledge. So, the writer asks some useful
