RIDING OF THE MARCHES
This year Riding of the Marches will be on the 15th August and as always, open to one and all. To
ensure the smooth running of this event the Club have issued the following guidelines for helping
people know what is expected of them on the day.
 Do not pass the person carrying the flag
 When approaching the Cathedral the horses following the lead horses must move up the street
to make room for all the horses.
 Be polite and remain quiet while the speeches are taking place.
 At the beach do not enter the water until the flag has been handed over and the toast has
       finished.
 There will be marshals wearing armbands. They are there to help. Please obey them.
 Keep up with the group. If you are leaving early please inform a marshal.
 In the interests of safety please DO NOT gallop on the bridle tracks or at the beach.
 Please respect a Horse/Pony that has a ribbon on its tail. Red ribbon – This horse may kick.
Green ribbon – A young or inexperienced horse that may kick.
 Those on smaller ponies please keep your distance from the bigger horses in case they kick.
 Remember to thank those on the ground who are helping and cars that have had to stop for
       us.
 Parking is available at the bus station car park. Please do not park in the Power Bowl car park.
There is extra parking if needed at the Glaitness School.
 Please pick up all dung from the car park area.

We hope you thoroughly enjoy your day and once the formalities are over we would love you to join
us at for a party at the New Indoor School any time after 7.30pm. Please bring a bottle!
