            A Season Celebrating Junior Golf!
          Traverse City Junior Golf Association
                   Celebrates 25 Years!
(Traverse City, MI) February 20, 2008 – One of the nation’s leading Junior Golf

Programs will celebrate its 25th golf season this year. Traverse City Junior Golf

Association (TCJGA) was established in 1984 as a non-profit 501-c3 organization,

dedicated to introduce, teach lessons and host golf tournaments for 5 to 21 year olds in

the Northern Michigan area. Since its inception the TCJGA has grown to service more

than 500 junior golfers annually plus over 2500 elementary students within the In-School

Golf Program.

Dedicated to providing young people the opportunity to learn, mature, compete

and grow through the ‘Game of Golf’, the TCJGA will welcome returning players, alumni

families, and new young players to the game of golf in a season chocked full of activities

– all celebrating 25 years of youth playing golf.

Leading the special event list of TCJGA for 2008 is the annual Scholarship

Tournament and Dinner – this year a 25th year celebration event is slated for Monday,

June 30th at Traverse City Golf & Country Club. A sell-out event in recent years,

proceeds will assist some 15 to 20 students in their college careers. Cost per player,

which includes lunch, dinner and gifts is $110.

Preceding the Junior Championship Tournaments to be held on August 3 rd and

4th at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, marking the end of the competitive golf season for
over 250 junior players, is the 25th Anniversary Tournament and Dinner Celebration

slated for Saturday, August 2 nd also at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. The

scramble tournament will get underway on both the Bear and the Wolverine golf

courses, each with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The field is limited and will

be priced at $150 per player, which includes a day of golf, dinner, prizes, and

commemorative gifts.

A quarter-decade of junior players and their families will celebrate all that the

‘Game of Golf’ brings to life on and off the links. TCJGA will continue its mission of

teaching Life Skills through Golf: honesty, integrity, respect, confidence, good

sportsmanship and playing by the rules.

TCJGA teaches the game of golf and good understanding of the USGA rules of

golf and golf course etiquette. The non-profit organization recognizes students for their

accomplishments both on and off the golf course. It encourages families to enjoy the

game of golf together, promoting the continued growth of the game of golf through

cooperation with area golf course facilities and schools.

Junior players, Alumni players, friends and families of TCJGA are invited to join

the season of celebration by visiting www.tcjga.com or calling (231) 935-4653 for up-to-

the-minute event details and registration information.
