                                WHAT TO BRING

 Formal Concert Attire
Don’t forget your black socks/hose and black dress shoes!
 HMS Band Polo Shirt to wear at Carowinds
This is not only for us to show our school spirit, but also for safety purposes.
Students may wear shorts, capri pants, or jeans of their choosing. Sneakers are
  recommended, but not required.
 2 casual outfits
It is supposed to be very warm in Charlotte, but keep an eye on the weather report!
All attire MUST adhere to the HMS dress code!
 Underwear/socks
 Casual shoes and/or sneakers
 Sleepwear
 A light jacket or sweater
 Toiletries
Bath soap, shampoo/conditioner, hair products, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste,
  contact solution, etc.
 Medication
Important: All medication MUST be clearly labeled with the child’s name and dosage
instructions, and given to Ms. Murphy before departure from HMS.
 Band instrument/equipment and accessories
 Band binder with concert music
 Snacks for the bus ride
 Entertainment for the bus ride
Books, magazines, iPods/mp3 players WITH earphones, personal DVD players
WITH earphones (G, PG, and PG-13 movies only!), personal gaming systems, decks
  of cards, bus-friendly games, etc.
 Cell phone
This is recommended (but not required) for communication with parents and
emergency use only. Cell phones are not to be used for casual conversations in
 Spending money
All meals – with the exception of Friday’s lunch – are covered in the trip package.
However, the students may want money to supplement this, as well as for games and
souvenirs. I recommend at least $50-75 for the weekend. Each student must
remember that it is his/her responsibility to keep up with spending money. The more
money the students have, the more likely it is to disappear!

   A Final Note
The students should be mindful that we are representatives of our school, our school
district, and our state. They are expected to be on their absolute best behavior at all
times. This includes keeping the noise level to a minimum in hotel rooms, following
directions, cooperating with chaperones, and abiding by all school and county rules.
Since this is the HMS Band’s first out-of-state, overnight trip, it is crucial that we
fulfill this expectation so that future band students may enjoy this opportunity.
Students who do not adhere to rules will remain with a chaperone both on the bus and
during planned activities, and will also be subject to administrative consequences
upon our return to school. Severe infractions will result in immediate dismissal from
   the trip.

I am looking forward to a wonderful trip!

   Ms. Murphy
