2.0 Document Summary
This document defines the step by step instructions on how to use the 7 Digit Postcode
Entry on MkIV Sat Nav Unit running the latest version DVD Map Disk. Your Nav Unit must
be a MkIV running O/S v27 or later. Please do not confuse a BMW MKIV Nav Unit with a
E65/66 BMW NaviXX range of units, they are not the same, postcode entry and additional
POI’s do not work on these units.

5.0 How To Find Your Operating System Software Version
To determine which Nav OS software version you presently have, go into either “Set” or
“Settings” from the main menu of your navigation screen. In the upper right hand corner
you will see SW x-x/xx (see example picture below).
The first number indicates which generation navigation system you have:
1 indicates MKI Unit
2 indicates MKII Unit
3 indicates MKIII Unit
4 indicates MKIV Unit
The second number (which will most likely be 1) tells you that you have the full colour
“high level” Nav Screen.
The third numbers tells you the software version. For example, the version 18 disk will take
a MKIII system to version 4.0 and show 1/40.
