Funding
Accessing funding
Dacorum Borough Council works with community groups, voluntary sector
organisations and others to try to ensure that projects/groups can access funds
when required. There is a limited amount of local funds but there are many ways of
getting ‘external funding’ from other organisations such as The National Lottery’s
Big Lottery Fund.
As part of the council’s funding advice service to the community, a monthly newsletter is
produced to help keep organisations up to date on current funding opportunities. This is
free to subscribe to and receive and further details are available on the council’s website at:
www.dacorum.gov.uk/funding . In addition, the council also provides a freely accessible
searchable grants database for anyone to access. This service is called Grants4: Dacorum
and can be used to find out what sources of funding your organisation or project may be
eligible for. Visit www.grants4.info/dacorum for more information.
Funding Advice for local voluntary and community organisations
The Council has a partnership arrangement with Community Action Dacorum, the local
council for voluntary service, to provide funding advice and guidance to local
voluntary/community organisations. They might be able to help you access funding for a
project your group would like to run and have access to an online database of charitable
grant making trusts.

Case Study
Community Action Dacorum helped
Connexions Netball Club (based in
Hemel Hempstead) apply for £5000
funding from the Grassroots Funding
Programme to pay for a youth netball
project. The club now has a group of
very active young netballers who train
together each week and are learning
new skills, having fun and making
friends. The funding helped to pay for
their coaching, venue hire and their kit.
