The Riau Islands Province, the 32nd new Province of the Republic of Indonesia, was
established based on Law No. 25/2002 and inaugurated on 1st July 2004 by the
Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

        There are six Regions :
        • City of Batam
        • Bintan Regency
        • Karimun Regency
                                      Free Trade
        • City of Tanjungpinang       Zone
        • Natuna Regency
        • Lingga Regency

       Sea              : 241,738 km2 (96%)

TRADE & INDUSTRY
All industries can be set up in Batam, because of
topographic condition, light to medium industries,
shipyard, agro-industry, and fisheries are suitable in
Batam


INDUSTRIAL PARK
Currently, there are 26 industrial estates that are
already operating with 984 foreign companies worth
US$ 13 billion. The estates provide complete working
environment, including ready-built factories and
offices, staff housing, hospital, health services, and
management support service


AGRIBUSINESS
The area in Rempang and Galang is suitable for
plantations as well as fisheries



TOURISM
There were 1.07 million foreign visitors up to
December 2007 in Batam. Batam is supported with 6
international golf courses, resorts, historical site of
the   ex-Vietnamese      refugee   camp,   and    local
international delicacies from various restaurants

The rapid growth of business activities            has
stimulated demand for housing development

INDUSTRY
The government has allocated 4,000 hectares of land in North Bintan
(96.3% ready for investment) and 200 hectares in Galang Batang for
Industrial Parks. There are 46 companies in the year 2006.

AGRIBUSINESS
There are 2,000 hectares of land prepared by the local
government for the cultivation of vegetables and tropical
fruits.


PROPERTY
The rapid growth of business activities has stimulated
demand for housing development




FISHERIES
Since 95% of the area is water, fisheries has definitely taken one of
the leading sectors. The Government has prepared the location in Sei
Tiram, Tambelan and Teluk Bintan for Marine culture.


TOURISM
Tourism industry grows tremendously with an average of
41,625 foreign visitors every month since 2007.

TOURISM
Developing rapidly in its tourism sector as the
area has beautiful beaches and other tourist
attractions. 300,000 foreign visitors in 2007
Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Batam, Bintan and Karimun (BBK)
based on Laws No. 44 year 2007
