MAY 31 DALLAS DEPARTURE
Depart Dallas on Lufthansa non-stop flight to Frankfurt. Dinner and Breakfast will be served on board.
JUNE 01 FRANKFURT/STOCKHOLM
Arrive in Frankfurt where you connect to Stockholm. Meet our Scandinavian Tour Escort, who will remain with us
throughout our tour. Then board our waiting motor coach for the drive into the city. The afternoon is free for us to rest
after the transatlantic journey. Enjoy dinner this evening and meet your fellow travelers. (D)
JUNE 02 STOCKHOLM
Morning sightseeing of this picturesque old city will include a visit to the magnificent City Hall with its Blue Hall and
Golden Chamber clad with over 18-million gilded mosaic tiles. We then continue to the Royal Palace to visit the
Cathedral mirrored in the water of the cobblestone Old Town, more commonly known as the “Gamla Stan”, which is
filled with antique shops and a Bohemian spirit. We end our tour at nearby Riddarholm Church, a 700-year-old
monastery containing the tombs of the Swedish Kings. The afternoon is free to explore Stockholm on our own. Visit
Kaknäs Tower – the tallest building in Scandinavia and offering wonderful views of the city. Stop by Stansen – an
open-air museum of Swedish history, or simply return to Gamla Stan to explore the narrow cobblestone streets and
alleyways. (B)
JUNE 03 STOCKLHOLM
Today enjoy a half- day excursion to Drottningholm Palace. This is a former Royal summer residence, which is today
home of the Royal Family. A beautiful example of Baroque park and magnificent rooms from the17th, 18th, and 19th
centuries. It is UNESCO World Heritage site. Return to Stockholm for an afternoon at leisure. (B)
JUNE 04 STOCKHOLM/KARLSTAD/HAMER
Leave Stockholm behind this morning as we drive along beautiful Lake Malaren on our way to Karlstad, the ancient
capital of the Varmland Province wonderfully situated on the tip of Lake Vanern. After time in this beautiful town, we’ll
cross the border into Norway. We’re headed to our hotel for the night in the town of Hamer, one of the sites of the
1994 Winter Olympics and a popular resort for all Scandinavians. Dinner this evening. (B & D)
JUNE 05 – HAMER/STALHEIM
Experience one of our tour’s highlights today - a cruise along the breath-taking Sognefjord, “King of the Fjords” and
Norway’s longest and deepest fjord. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery as the mountains rise right out of the water. Then
continue by motor coach deep into the fjord country to arrive at our hotel in the town of Stalheim - famous as the birth-
place of famed football coach Knute Rockne. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening. (B & D)
JUNE 06 – STALHEIM/ BERGEN
We’ll see the beauty of western Norway and the fjords today as we travel along the scenic Hardanderfjord, known for
its mild climate and apple and cherry plantations, to arrive in the famous Hanseatic port of Bergen. This charming
900-year-old waterside town has been known for its sea trade since the Middle Ages. An introduction to Bergen and
its surroundings will start along the Bryggen waterfront with its age-old wooden buildings and narrow-planked alley-
ways from medieval times – Bergen’s trademark. Then continue to nearby Troldhaugen where we will see the home
and burial place of Norway’s beloved composer Edvard Grieg. The afternoon is free to explore Bergen on our own.
Enjoy a relaxing walk through the Bryggen area filled with shops, restaurants and artists’ studios, some which occupy
buildings that date back to the 16th century. Or, to make the 1,050-foot ascent by funicular to the summit of Mount
Floien, from where we have a spectacular view of the city and surrounding fjords. (B)
JUNE 07 – BERGEN/OSLO
After breakfast this morning depart for Oslo by entering the picturesque Hallingdal Valley where dairy, potato and grain
farmsteads dot the countryside. We’ll pass through the town of Honefoss (its name comes from its double waterfalls)
prior to arriving in Oslo for overnight. Dinner is included this evening. (B & D)
JUNE 08 – OSLO
We’ll enjoy a sightseeing drive of the city of Oslo. Our guide will point out all its wonders for you – the Arkershus
Fortress, the Oslo Cathedral the Munch Museum, and the Homenkollen Ski Jump. We’ll also pass the controversial
Vigeland Sculptures at Frogner Park. The afternoon is at leisure. (B)
JUNE 09 OSLO/OVERNIGHT CRUISE
Enjoy this day at leisure to explore this beautiful city. In the evening you will be transferred to the Pier to board your
overnight ferry to Copenhagen. As we leave Norway and head south through the narrow Oresund Passage, our
breath will be taken away, by the deep blue beauty of the Oslo Fjord. Dinner is included onboard the cruise. (B & D)
JUNE 10 – COPENHAGEN
After breakfast on board ship, arrive in Copenhagen. After disembarkationour morning sightseeing of Copenhagen
will show us its many wonders including the dragon-spired Stock Exchange, the “Little Mermaid”, a charming reminder
of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale, and Christiansborg Palace where we visit the Royal Reception Rooms. Also see
the canals of Copenhagen and Nyhaven, the old sailor’s quarter rich with pubs, boutiques, shops, old sailing ships,
and Amalienborg Palace (the Royal residence). (B)
JUNE 11 – COPENHAGEN
Today we’ll travel to Helsingor to visit Kronborg Castle, It is the most important Renaissance Castle in Northern Europe.
William Shakespeare’s story of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, takes place behind the walls of the Castle. Many refer to it
as Hamlet’s Castle. It has witnessed a long history since it was first started in 1420 as Fortress Krogen then became
Kronborg later. It has gone through several fires and restorations, was occupied by the German troops from 1940-
1945 and hosted the first performance ofHamlet in 1816. Return to Copenhagen in the afternoon. Spend the late
afternoon at Tivoli Garden Amusement Park followed by dinner there. (B & D)
