Bus Data
Bus Operations is responsible for the operation of 75 bus routes and
maintenance of the 450 active vehicles required to provide the service.
There are 825 bus operators and 297 maintenance personnel providing
more than 18 million miles of bus service on an annual basis from the
three bus operating divisions: Cerone, Chaboya and North.

Training for Bus Operators:
The safety training for bus operators is as follows:
Initial operator training runs nine weeks and includes all aspects of defensive driving skills, legal responsibili-
ties, customer service, Americans with Disability Act (ADA) law, fare structure, emergency response, reporting,
radio use, etc. Student operators drive buses under controlled conditions, without passengers, for several weeks
before sharing scheduled runs with behind-the-wheel trainers.
A Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Final Drive evaluation is
                                               successfully completed prior to graduation.
A minimum of eight hours of annual safety training is required of
all operators. The curriculum of that class varies somewhat each
year, and always includes a refresher on defensive driving habits,
equipment updates and troubleshooting, changes in law pertaining
to Commercial Driving, Customer Service, ADA requirements, and
                                              addresses frequently asked questions.
